Rog
I found that I could not close the bonnet with the side intake on the plenum. So my magician friend worked a little magic with a cut and shut.

I love the use of the occy strap to get the right amount of castor into it that's thinking outside the square :-) .

Rog246 09-30-2014 09:04 PM

Hey Dougie, that looks pretty smart. Like the look. haven't decided about much under bonnet stuff yet, but I reckon it'll happen pretty quick. I'm going to finish off the rear suspension and brakes this week end hopefully. I want to bead blast the calipers & re-kit them, grind the Nissan name off the side of them, so I can put some flash looking Cobra brake decals on them :MECOOL:.
I have some R33 rear lower control arms that have new Ball Joints and urethane bushings and have been painted in black apoxy paint if anyone is looking for some-They won't be real dear either

if you want stickers made I have a vinyl cutter here and can cut pretty much anything ya want if you have something in mind small stuff I can usually cut out of scrap from other jobs for bugga all cost .

cheers dean

Rog246 09-30-2014 10:41 PM

Thanks Deano, but I already have the brake caliper stickers-said to be heat resistant to 600F-so if they fall off they'll probably tell me that the brakes got a bit hotter than that !! LOL

time to re-visit

I haven't updated this at all, so I will bring it as up to date as much as possible along with photo's as well.
There is bit of a story to tell as well so.......

Rog246 01-18-2017 10:36 PM

a bit long winded but........

Well, I'd better update the journey-to keep things in perspective a bit.
We came out of bankruptcy in July 2015 ( I just love the CBA  !)
The bride got a great job with a fantastic firm in Capalaba (20-mins from home) great salary, fantastic people and even better job. I got myself back into being a rubber grub (tyre industry) and we were starting start over as it were, slowly getting some $'s together and getting a little bit ahead. I was slowly picking gear for #100. I bought totally adjustable rear suspension, overhauled the rear brake brakes-kitted the calipers, new disc's and H/D pads and new hand brake cables, picked up a new fabricated front end from Andrew at Fabrication 81 (whatever) and fitted it, along with 320mm HSV front slotted calipers and new Landcruiser 4 spot calipers ( a bit heavy-I can live with that ATM) & H/D pads, fabricated some brackets to fit (actually a piece of cake !) with nice new hardware bolting everything.Plus doing a whole bunch of other stuff that you do-accumulating more gear to (auto headlight & rain sensing wiper systems) seat heaters (just in case I need to keep warm) rather than fitting a heater and just generally collecting the bits that you want.
The cook came home from work early May 2016 saying she was a bit tired & we both didn't think much of it, but by mid to late May had to make a Dr's appointment.
On 31st May diagnosed with Lung Cancer-%/
So started another journey began !
Unfortunately it didn't have a happy ending & my bride of 44yrs went to God (or where ever !) 20th August :(
So now another Journey starts !
This journey hopefully will culminate with #100 being finished and doing a road trip to Tasmania -which was always our plan.
So I've pretty much having to start not so much again, but collecting my thoughts as to where I am at, and where the direction I'm taking/was taking/am going to take or whatever !
That being said it begins again.
I'm sorry about being a bit long winded with this but as you can tell-I must have run over a Chinaman as he old story goes ! (with apologies to any one !) somewhere along life's highway.
So when this is all done and you see Cobra rego NUM-100 you will know who it is- and hopefully give me wave  and think FINALLY the old bastard has finished it.

Hey Rog
You just put all my petty problems into perspective.
Feel for you mate.
Cheers and all the best for you and #100 and the future endeavours,
Brett

I'm very sorry to hear of your loss Rog.
Fantastic to see you are fulfilling your and your late wife's plans.
Can't wait to hear of your adventures.

Gav

Sorry too mate to hear about your loss of a lifetime partner.

Perhaps you can pay further tribute such as am yet to do, by giving your beast a moniker in memory. I need to arrange a "Dougie" sticker for the yellow car in memory of my wife's Dad, who passed away only a few months ago.

He was a car man and was quite inspired during my build, but only got the chance to sit in the finished car once, as his health had gone sufficiently south by that time.

Get you car finished at the very least, cause then you will know your dear departed will be smiling at your achievement.

Take care and keep us update.

Steve

thanks guys, I really do appreciate it.
Certainly on a different path now, but as they (whoever THEY are !) onward and upwards!

Aussie Mike 01-19-2017 05:57 PM

Sorry for your loss. 2016 has been a bad year for many of us. Here's to 2017 being a better one.

SydneyChris 01-19-2017 05:57 PM

Congrats... :)

I was always taught that if you can keep your sense of humour, you can overcome any adversity in life-
Just remember folks " we are here for a good time......not a long time, so enjoy it while you can!
'cause your dead for a flamin' long time

Rog246 01-26-2017 03:33 AM

update

ordered my fuel tank on Tuesday 10th, discussed what exactly what I needed etc, and got a call to come and collect it on Wednesday 18th.
Man I am super impressed, not only with the quality AND the finish but the service was 1st class, pressure tested etc ready to with sender unit fitted, ready to bolt in place.
If anyone on Brisbane is looking for someone to build their their tank in Stainless or Alloy I strongly recommend the guys at TYDEL Stainless Applications (07 823 2111) speak to Andrew Delaforce, he knows his stuff.

boxhead 01-26-2017 05:21 PM

Oh no, not sure how I missed this post update.
So Sorry for your loss Rog, sure has been a rough patch for a few I know.
Keep the dreams and wishes of a Tassie trip firmly planted in the mindset.

Rog246 01-27-2017 12:02 AM

Doing that Dave, that's for sure ;)

guye 01-27-2017 09:36 PM

Sorry for your loss, Rog. As you and Boxhead said, good to still see your sense of humour throughout.

And when you do your Tassie trip, Rog, we'll organise a cobra dinner or morning coffee with the Vic Club if you like on your way through!
