The Agony & the Ecstacy Part 2
Jeez, little did I know that I would have a SH#T load of agony after boasting & posting my starting my project. The cook & I are eternally gratefull to Mr Warwick Harrison.
He is one true gentleman for sticking with us after the year we've had financially, I can't sing his praises enough. Well after a real shakey start I can finally say the project has begun in earnest as I finally took delivery of chassis #100 today & its home in my garage. Obviously I don't know anything about other manufacturers of Cobras but if some of the new guys asking questions on here re which/who & why etc add Warwick to the top of your list you WON'T be disappointed. :);) Rog246 Harrison #100 |

You have to have a broom broom photo taken. That's where you sit in the drivers seat (or where it eventually will go) and pretend your driving with a silly look on your face. It's a right of passage for anyone who finally gets their body/chassis kit home. :3DSMILE:

Well done Rog. As the builder of Harrison # 80: full agreement about Warwick. There is a stage in all builds where you become so used to the colour of the gel coat that you start to like it ....

Yea Rog, # 100, a benchmark for Warwick, mines #38 and still not registered, so it's been a long time hatching.
I bought it 2 years ago from the original purchaser who had only really looked at it in his shed for 4 years. Ditto for Warwick as well. I've tested his memory many times as the current incarnation of his Cobra differs here and there from mine. Enjoy your build. Greg |

bit of an update
Struth, I didn't realise that 4 years has gone by since I brought this thread up to date-:JEKYLHYDE
Well, don't really know where to start, but after squaring away with Warwick and getting #100 home, I thought everything was going to be sweet. How wrong was I. The child bride and I had a very long running battle with our bank, and after much arguing, mediation and every other type of discussion with Ombudsman, solicitors etc we won the battle but lost the war. Small consolation that the bank admitted they were in the wrong but we lost everything to bastards, and had to declare ourselves officially bust :o So the only thing we were able to keep was #100 :) Needless to say its been a bit hard over the last few years, but I have managed to slowly work at getting things together to re-start my build, which I hope to start this long week end, so I start putting pic's up on my gallery as well as putting some details together of the work done, being done and about to be done etc. So bear with me please |
Wow, what a journey. A battle with a bank rarely ends well. Glad to hear you managed to keep #100, which I hope over time can be your Phoenix rising from the ashes.

I can relate some what to you while I didn't battle the banks I had to battle the ex and her divorce lawyer . I also lost everything my house my business my dignity but I also lost my cobra . that was over 14 yts ago and im back into a position to get another cobra .
I was a angry man for a long time back then , glad to see you kept yours and the build is going to continue once again well done and pics pics pics lol cheers dean |

Well done anyway. Now don't fall into the trap Mike has suggested, do like I did below - Mad woman test driver http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...ps694accb1.jpg Mike's musings made me recall that I didn't sit for a brmm brmm photo but the missus did about two months into the build. Now note the special driving mocassins and the very high tech accelerator pedal linkage. Other than the mad look on her face all was good - eventually......... Now I'm just going to slink off to the doghouse in advance of SWMBO seeing this post. Keep us entertained with your photo collection of the build. She's got her race-face on. I think she's throwing it into the left hand sweeper after the short back straight at Winton. I make that same face.

Slo, I like that SWMBO is also leaning left to offset the chassis imbalance due to the flat RHR tyre.

Geof, I've got a Boss 260 going in.
I've had a little fiddle with it, match ported the inlet manifold, put phenolic spacers under the inlet manifold, new chain tensioners, with high volume oil pump with cryogenic pump gears in it,adjustable timing gear on the crank shaft and a windage tray with an crank shaft scraper, and I managed to get hold of a Ford GT (new model) water outlet which has a massive outlet diameter with remote oil filter etc. Working now on what to do with the plenum, but most likely won't do that till its installed so I can see exactly what to do. Just a small massage, so I can rev to about 7-7500 safely.:p After all this time you'd reckon I'd have a colour in mind, but I swear it changes almost daily I think. |
