The beginning.

Gotta love working with RHS.
Are you MIG or arc welding the framework? |
Very good Stan! Is this a scratch build?
|
got a guy im melbourne putting the chassis together for me. the body comes out of the mould on tuesday or wednesday.
Then its into setting up the commodore IRS rear end and Mustang 11 front end. |
Upon closer inspection I see the MIG handpiece.
|
If the rain stops for tomorrow then the brickwork will be finished on the new shed.
The iron for the roof is sitting here so the Cobra will have a home soon. Plumbing and electical work is organized, just have to move my bed in . hahaha |

this is how it looked this time last week,. |
Have you spoken to engineers yet regarding testing for rego? Or is it going to be a track only car?
|
yep. rang and emailed Enklemans a few months ago and discussed the build. engine choice ect. will have to get back in touch now its started.
Boxhead, Have you got that slab poured yet? |
I am going the same way as Aussie Mike, shed up first the pour inside.
Shed is paid for and the parts are being put together as a kit. I have asked for delivery after mid October (driving Cobra to Cairns) and will assemble it myself with mates and using the stairway Bedford. Then have the slab poured approx April next year (I hate borrowing money from Bank, doing it this way it is all paid for up front) My shed is 12x16 with 4.6 wall height and 11 degree pitch, leaves enough room for a mezzanine with bar, TV, Coffee table video game. |

So when do you pick it up?
|
Still working on the chassis, running the commodore rear end and mustang 11 frontend is presenting some hurdles. All good though, then i will get the footwells done and panels swung. By the time thats all done my shed should be finished.
|
sounds like you have the mk1 chassis.
mine is getting chopped up or replaced to accomodated the changes so its back to the engineers for another test , so mk2 chassis will be born. |
some of the changes to get the commodore rear end installed.http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...d=4125&thumb=1

Just a question for y'all.
Why does it appear that all the structural steel shapes in Australia come with a blue paint or primer? What is the coating? In the US, most of the shapes come with an oiled coating... |
Our sections come in Blue or Plain (oiled). Im pretty sure the blue is just a primer, it comes off very easy with a wire brush for welding or it can be easily painted over. Not so easy to paint oiled steel. My personal preference is blue because its easier to clean for tig welding.
