Default Beejay's Rebuild

Still pretty quiet in here lately, so I thought I might start a thread on my rebuild.

The car body is to be removed and painted, this will give me a chance to fix / improve a few things under the skin. The plan is to be back on the road by the Nationals.

Two days of work and I am almost ready for body removal. You gotta love a long weekend.

Ben

Now I know why I had some funny noises at Eastern Creek a few months ago! May need a new clutch and bellhousing...

Baz,

I have decided to use Contagious Colour.

There were a couple of other options that were really good, but I think that Jason at Contagious suited my budget, expectations and timeframe best.

Cheers,

Ben

Another update.

The stripped out shell has gone to the painters.

I have made up a trolley for the bare body to be put on in a few weeks. Then I can start working on some of the driveline.

Bodywork started.

Looks good. What colour are you painting it? Is the red in the engine bay the colour or is that just the gel coat?

Keep the pics coming.

The original colour under the bonnet was a special paint that is now discontinued.

Going for PPG O So Orange now with silver stripes.

Cheers,

Ben

That is a sweet colour. I have been considering the lamborgini colour that is similar to that with white stripes.

Cant wait to see how it turns out.

Not long until the Nationals now, with lots to do!

Body should be ready in a couple of weeks hopefully.

Some updated pics on progress so far:-

New baffled sump

Aussie Mike rear arms fitted

New radiator from Shauns Custom Alloy

Chassis repainted

Engine and gearbox back in, new bellhousing, clutch housing and shifter all finished.

Panel gaps almost done.

Under bonnet almost ready.

Engine waiting for shiney bits

Great body prep, keep the pictures coming. It seems like it's been a while since there were so many projects at different stages of construction being documented on this forum. I think it's fantastic.

Regards.

Body is now basically finished and back on the chassis thanks to some muscle from the B Club. Jason from Contagious Colour has done an amazing job on the bodywork and paint.

There will be a few late nights but I still think I can make the Nationals.

Ben

That colour looks fantastic, you must be very pleased!

Are there any issues with putting the body on after painting? I would have thought there was a high risk of paint cracking.

Are the stripes silver with a white pearl on the edges?

Thanks for the photos. The more you look, the more detail you see.

The photos do not do that colour justice, I bet it really pops when out in the sun.

Looking foward to seeing it at the Nats.

Thanks guys.

The stripes are PPG staight silver tinter with the vibrance pearl over the top. Part of the stripes and body were in the middle of colour sanding when the body went on, hence the faded bits in some of the photos.

Once it is all buffed it will look even better.

Cheers,

Ben

Love what you've done with your car, it looks fantastic. I was wondering where you purchased your rocker covers for your engine. I have an L98 6ltr Chevy engine and I am having trouble finding rocker covers to fit.
