Hi all, long time reader first time poster.

I've entered the 'Nats' for the last 2 years, and yes the weather has not been that kind. However, I have had an absolute ball both times!

I'm a new comer to the Cobra scene, although I have been involved in other car clubs and events. One thing I can say is that events like 'Shelby Fest' and the 'Cobra Nationals' are probably the best value for money you are ever gonna get when it comes to motorsport. Historic racing events and Tarmac events have entry fees $700 to over $1000. In these events you'd be lucky to get more than 30 minutes track time for the whole weekend.

I'm more than happy with the way things are. We should keep it at WP. Keep up the good work CCCNSW.

That's my opinion anyway. Cheers Welshy.

How many Guys from WA go? I am thinking about driving my G-Force over next year and train the car back while I sit on a plane. So NSW would be much easier than QLD.

boxhead 10-12-2010 12:11 AM

I can meet ya on the way, road trip to Nats :)

It is also easier for me to get to Nationals, and Goulburn is central to most participants.

Vic has Shelby fest, NSW has Nationals, maybe Qld need to look at hosting a 3rd event?

Only fear is that a 3rd event may see people decide they will attend 2 for the year, so one may not be as full a field as it could be?

I think that the Nationals is a fantastic event that the NSW club should be very proud of.
I would be more than prepared to pay higher fee's for such a great event.
The facilities at Wakefeild park are top notch, and versitile to boot, given the ability to run several different events at the one venue.

I too travel a fair distance to attend each year, and while I think that at some point I will drag the Cobra north for an event, I would not be keen on doing it every year.

Goulburn is a very central venue for the Nationals and it is only logical that NSW would have large attendance numbers for an event in their own state, I think you would be able to count on one hand how many Victorians would be able to make the treck north if the Nationals where held in QLD, and vice versa if they where held down south.

My two bobs worth.

NSW Club doing the Nationals Well

I went to my first Nationals this year.

I was impressed that the NSW club had got the track for 3 days and believe that it affords a great opportunity to get some good track time - weather permitting.

I thought the voulunteers we fantastic, the way they kept on pushing to get people out on the track and through events was sensational.

I went there to enjoy myself and that's exactly what happened.

I feel that the NSW club did a great job of making the Nationals easy to enjoy by providing functions (& transport) every night - taking the hassle out of finding your way in a new environment.

I hope that the NSW club is able to keep up the event and I am confident that if they find it necessary to make changes that they will be well considered and provide the best available outcome for the circumstances.

LoBelly :)

I'm with you Gav.Over all for me the entry fee is by far the cheapest thing Why dont we all spend less on R spec tyres and run on normal road rubber and contribute more money to running a great event.Just a thought And I,d make the trip with you to sunny QLD mate.

On the subject of photos.....

For the life of me I can't remember where this photo came from....

http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d..._1542783_n.jpg

It's taken in pit lane at this year's Nationals....

I either got it recently on an e-mail, or saw it on this forum...
Cannot remember...

It has "Chase Photography" stamped on it, but a search on the net under this name only gives me American type sites...

Any Help?

I remember I saved this photo, and another similar one of Denis Stone...and I'm sure there were plenty of others.

Minds a blank!

Warren, Chase Photography is Rebecca Neall, Phil Neall's daughter.

I expect they would have been emailed to you.

Rebecca takes fantastic photos.

Are you talking on a mobile? :)

Here's a handful that I'd snapped of you Warren.

It seemed that you were the one that summoned the rain every time you hit the track.

Did you end up getting many timed laps considering the weather?

P.S. the first two shots have had a fair bit of the colour sapped out of it for some reason? Must have something to do with the way photobucket compresses the images once uploaded?

Looks like it doesn't it !!

Sounds like something I'd do....No...Just closing my visor.

Thanks Craig for the info.

Cheers,
Warren.

Geez...they are terrific shots....I'll be in contact next week....will get a couple of these from you.

Pity about all the front end broken bits...
First practice session on Thursday, ripped off the front spoiler, broke a headlight, lost half of it somewhere, broke all the nose like a cracked egg.
Gave the car a "demolition derby" look for the weekend.

Did you end up getting many timed laps considering the weather?

Too wet Sunday, which was a pity...had the little red racer going o.k. on practice day.

Managed a couple of 1.07 secs,
and just the one 1.06 sec run.

The canetoads are quick to jump on me with a temporary new nick name ...
Warren P.D. Boylan...

P.D. = "Practice Day"...It seems that's the only day I can do any good.;):LOL:

Marcus ambrose

Ummm, I believe it was Marcus Ambrose who got skunked for NO balaclava at Bathurst wasn't it?? And his race bumpked!!

So me thinks any laps done without GLOVES don't count do they? Geez those knuckles look WHITE!!!

Similarities to Marcus Race Car Driver and Wazza Fibreglass repairs client stop there though!!

Craig, I'm prettty sure WAZZA's just letting the Fibreglass guys know on the mobile THAT HE'S HEADING OUT AGAIN!!!!!!

Merv and Sharon 11-20-2010 10:48 PM

Very nice shots Stephen. Warren there does not seem to be too much wheel clearance on the rear on that corner shot. Well judged ...

Towmaster 11-22-2010 05:08 AM
