Drool and enjoy!

Reminds me of a scene in ALIEN when the chick comes across a nest of 'eggs' evil and foreboding.

I got my good ole 351 Cleveland from a bloke that had four nasty looking dogs, a 10 foot corrugated fence around the house and a particularly cute 16 year old daughter. I wish I had a camera. It turned out the dogs were totally under control. The bloke was a pretty nice guy ( although scary rough looking) and the daughter WAS the most dangerous thing in the yard. The engine ? Nice runner with a top-loader and cost me $250.00 . I was a bit suss as all the connections had been hacked off...radiator hose, battery wire, fuel line etc. Checked it on REVS and it was genuine, not hot.

Very funny description Rob. Talent there. I can see the whole scene ... How's the Clevo going?

My motor came via JT Imports, as did many small blocks from US mustangs. I wonder what I might do if it ever gave up the ghost. Either re-build it, as the top end is all new, or buy a new block in ally.

alien adventure......

Tim, Rob

Yes quite an alien environment for me as I'm a Ford man but then I'm only doing enviro work on the Elizabeth site.

Mind you some of the robot lines are very similiar in look and operation as well as to one of the later Star War films, maybe Phantom menace? Where the Jedi and Amidala end up on the robot manufacturing lines fighting off both bugs and robot arms.

And watching the vehicle assembly lines I just wish the cobra would do that so I could be up and going again.

Cheers

Who for Freight?

So when I buy a crate eng and trans, whom does anyone recommend for freighting from wherever in the eastern states over to WA?

Thx

beauies 05-10-2011 04:08 AM

Just used Watson Express Transport to ship a complete rear diff cradle from WA to NSW. Quick, reasonable price, costing me more to bring gearbox down from QLD. Don't use there online quoting service ring instead.

Trouble is west-east is backhaul. It gets real expensive coming this way!

I had my car shipped in a container from Perth to Sydney for $500.
They wanted $2500 going home! So I drove it myself.

Capa on ebay at the moment have some for sale as well for $6995

So after some research, this is where I think I will go. Have not managed to negotiate prices quite this good tho .... but close :)

The Clevo purrs...it's a little low on compression now but there's no leaks, no smoke and it still pulls like a 16 yr old ( not the girl in the yard though) It's running on gas without hard valve seats right now but very soon it's going to get a bit of spit and polish...just to freshen it up and make it work correctly on gas.

Rob - Im pretty open minded, but I find your carry on about 16 year old girls rather tasteless. Makes you sound like a sleazy old letch.

Cheers.

trularin 05-13-2011 01:40 PM

Where is the part about the 16 year old girls?

Dang, I missed it again.

LSx Engine Mounts

Can anyone give any advice or comments or what they are using for engine mounts on their LSx installations?

Thx

alffie 05-16-2011 01:19 AM

Jethrow
I used the Corvette ZO6 mounts and VE Commodore rubber donuts

boxhead 05-16-2011 01:29 AM

I used Commodore L/H mount ear (same as Corvette) and modified the R/H mount ear (Because I had one, to be same as Corvette)
And Holden mounts.

Actually I think that quote comes from wheel aligners-generally referring to cars pulling to the right or left depending whether or not the cars owner is perceived to be right or left handed and it used to refer to 14 year old boys !:LOL::LOL:

jcraigau 05-18-2011 07:32 AM

Hmmm, might need a taller bonnet!

Hi everyone.

So the garage now houses a brand spankers LS3 and TR6060 just waiting for me to figure out how I am gunna shoehorn them into the Cobra. Exciting times indeed.

Of course just because you get a new motor and box does not suggest you will get the bolts that hold them both together. Gotta sort these mounts out too.

But anyways, can someone let me know what size (diameter and length) bolts are required to connect the 6 speed to GenIV? Much appreciated :)
