Waz I guess you'll be straddling the line between parking bays at the Red Rock next month so no-one can park too close! Don't worry mate, keep the coffee and toasted bacon sangers coming and I'll stay outside and keep an eye on it for you. I promise I won't tell people I own it--well not too many anyway!!!
Seriously the car's turned out beautifully and it's an absolute credit to all concerned. Shows what's possible when a guy has thought long and hard about a build and can relay clear directions to a master craftsman like Scotty, who is then able to meld those thoughts with some intuitive tweaking and fine tuning of his own to turn the dream into a stunning reality. This car had to be special--and it is. Wishing you good health this year and lots and lots of miles in your new baby. |
Looks great in the photos Warren, and I can't wait to take some time to look over all of the tiny little details that you've sweated over.
To me it really looks like a concept car, showcasing what a top shelf Cobra would look like if it was built by FoMoCo in the same Modern/Retro theme as the Ford GT. Bloody beautiful! |

Love it Wazza - interior is a thing of beauty. the mix of suede and leather, the layout of the dash - As other have said - I think it looks a perfect modern cobra interior.

Tenrocca I beleive there are plans afoot to DRIVE it all the way to the Nats this year with another car that hasn't yet seen the light of day!!
I'd even bet Wazza will drive it to and from work each day......then.... Polish the crap out of it on weekends!!!! |

The Ford Thunderbird 8.8 IRS...according to the "book" uses 750 lb springs, but I recon that with the lighter car, 650lbs will work fine. Went in to King Springs through the week, and they swapped them again... Drove it this morning....MUCH better...felt really steady and solid on the road. The rear suspension is the same as Factory Five offer as their "top of the range" option.
https://www.factoryfive.com/wp-conte...es-694x413.jpg I THINK....The Harrison Cobras 'usually' have 350 lb front and 300lb rear.....but that is usually on live axle set ups. ( Maybe I'm wrong on that as well...'cause I've got 600lbs on the front , and 300lbs on the rear of my live axle Harrison Race Cobra...but that's not a NORMAL car. ) Now I don't have the detailed knowledge of how exactly all of the suspension is "worked out"... but at least I can understand the way that the swinging arm of the Thunderbird IRS, has way more leverage on the compression of the springs, and subsequently would take much stronger springs than for instance a live axle set up. Obviously it's not just about how much weight is in any particular corner of the car, but depending on the angle of the spring/shock, combined with what leverage the swinging axle is applying because of where the spring shock sits within that swing range...then...i guess...there's a mathematical formula to work out the correct spring rate. But HOW to work it out ....No bloody idea . That's it....That's all I got !! I might be completely wrong...happy for someone to tell me different. Cheers, Warren. |
