Default NSW Roads & Maritime Services

With the integration of the RTA and NSW Maritime what will it mean to ICV builders in NSW?

Funnily enough, after selling my pride and joy boat, I had to submit the notice of disposal for both boat and trailer. Now the RMS accepted the NOD for the trailer but still sent me off 15 KMs away to Gosford NSW maritime to submit the NOD for the boat.

I am wondering what maritime services they are offering

just shows how unorganised things are around the country
when arriving in qld we changed licences and rego from nsw to qld
qld licences are sent to u afew weeks after u get them done
and i think not so long ago went to plastic
then on rego plates they asked my wife if she wanted them to say smart state or sunshine state and she laughed and sid smart state oh really give me a break hehheeh
so she got the smart state and for us to cancell our old rego its too much paperwork to get done in qld so we r going to drive an hour to tweed to hand our old plates into a nsw rta so we can get our refund because getting it done in qld required hours of forms to fill out

maybe they are combining rta and maritime so then they can make normal rta shops into maritime aswell then some of the shops that dont do well will be shut down
this way they will save money the redistribute this money to the ceos paypacket instead
of hiring very knowledgable people to work in the automotive engineering sector

Well...sounds like a plan...does not mean it is a good one, but it is clear that th merger has some sorting out to go yet.

Gents,

It's a name change, nothing more, nothing less. No redundancies, no departmental reorganisations. The same faces in the same chairs, but RMS at the top of their letterhead instead of RTA. All the recent ICV advances still stand. I still believe that if you pass all the tests first time, you should be able to engineer an ICV (including FEA) for $3k.

I think some RTA staff need a personality by pass. The people I have spoken to recently treat you like dirt.

I was disgusted to hear them talking to a single Mum asking basic questions. It was obvious to me that she had not been through the process before. But was treated like an idiot, very disappointing.

Recentyl I renewed my licence and while waiting I watched some pretty amusing things. One was a young kid filling out the renewal form for his licence AT the service desk while the staff waited...on the renewal form it's written in big letters to fill out the form before you go to the RTA. Another old bloke drove up to the place, parked in the testing zone, removed his number plates, came in and waited to be called up, handed in the plates and paperwork then got in his car and drove off...no plates ! Each time the people behind the desk just shook their head. They must have their patience 'tried' every day...I was there only 30 mins !
