Boxhead, I forgot about you lurking in the background!

Regards.

Always lurking mate, always lurking :)

How is it progressing on yours now?
Any more tests etc to be done or is it down to paperwork now?

Do you think you will have it at ShelbyFest?
Even in the carpark? (might be all the incentive I need to fly down for the weekend)

Hi Boxhead, once the Engineer has all the paperwork together I'll book a spot with motor reg for my final inspection. I've still got a few things to sort out such as my drivers wiper only covers about 60%. I always though I'd have some problems when I reduced the number of wipers from 3 to 2. I'm also hoping to pass without changing a few things such as the P700 headlights and my suction cup rear vision mirror that doesn't have the day/night feature.

Regards.

Hi Mando,

Have a new 130 degree wiper gear to suit lucas setup if needed.

Cheers,
Dale.

Mando 02-21-2011 02:16 AM

Dale, SOLD. How does it work?

Regards.

Mando

Just picture a circle ie the rotary drive gear inside the wiper motor box and then a pin located at the outer circumference and one half way to the centre of the gear.

For each rotation the pin closer to the centre will not push and pull on a crank as far, which when this motion is translated to the wiper wheel box to which the wipers are attached, you get less rotary effect or a different degree of wiper arm sweep.

So if you set the pin at the right distance from the centre line you will get 130 degrees of sweep which is about what you need.

I had to drill out the pin on my gear, re-position and spot weld to get the amount of sweep I was chasing. Not so uncommon a thing for this crowd though.

Gee, I actually understood that! Thanks Steve.
