Help with model identification please
5 Attachment(s)
Hi Guys,
Im looking at an unfinished car, that i beleive is about 5 years old, can anybody help with identifying what it is. iF so, i would be nice to know if there any engineering nightmares involved with this kit. i would also like to know what engine i can run with this kit. Thanks in advance Dean |
What state are you in? If it is NSW forget it at the minute!
Any car could be gotten through rego, it is just a matter of how much work will be required modifying what may not be up to scratch. Don't buy a kit that is cheap, the initial purchase is not the expensive part. |
I dont know what kit it is, but it looks to have a HQ type steering colomn, this needs to be collapsable, and I am not sure if HQ is?
As Gav has advised, initial purchase cost will make a huge difference to final finish cost, buying cheap at the start does not allways add up to saving $$$$$ at the end. Does the kit have any paperwork and documentation with it? |
Hi,
I'm in Melb, I appreciate starting with a nightmare, isn't ideal, wont be buying it if that's the case, that's why im trying to work out what it is. There is No history or paperwork for the car. I've had a rmc , so Im not concerned about the work involved, just concerned that the engineering will be a nightmare . If anybody recognizes the chassis, that would surely help me do some more research on it's viability Thanks dean |
Most kits come these days with a long list of things pre-approved (see post by Craig White - 400TT - on an earlier thread). Seems that you would have a lot of work there, some of which may be beyond your control.

hi all,
any ideas anyone 200 views and nobody has a clue? does this mean its not main stream chassis, home built chassis? doesnt look similar to anything out there? |
Probably means no one is game enough to have a stab a what it is!
|
These guys are usually pretty good at this kind of thing, so if they can't identify it ... that is a bad sign.

its cheap and the work already done is quality, so was hoping i could find some answers. |
I can tell you that it has Jag front and rear. With the front end using a shortened jag cross member. I thought that RCM was the only one that used the jag cross member. That makes me wonder if it is an RC Sports Cars kit.
Anyone seen the old RC chassis? As for testing documentation. In NSW this is an issue as the RTA are starting to ask for seat and seat belt anchor testing. But as far as i know the only test you would need in Vic would be torsion and beaming. Factor in about $1500 for this test. All other tests such as braking, lane change etc would probably have to be done with any kit unless identical to one thats already been tested. If its cheap enough and the welding is of good quality its worth considering. |
Maybe that's the secret, if it's cheap enough, buy it for the parts that are already on it.
Looks like decent Jag suspension, steering, brakes and laser printer! |

But even now I believe his Chassis are sold without TEST reports!! |

PM ...REPTYL....Jason his is an RC!!!
|
I was about to suggest Venom.
The look through the nose at the Jag cross member looks familiar. Search the Australian section for Venom, and make you rown conclusions. I am not going there again. |
well guys it is an old venom when they where rc sport car chassis
