It could also be the tune. Brand new factory cars have been known to fail the gas analyser test on occasion.

What a bummer! When my car failed I rang around a few exhaust places to see what they recommend, and one guy told me that a new VE V8 car that had to be tested failed. Another Exhaust guy said when he takes VE cats to be recycled he gets $10 each for them, but if he takes an old commodore Cat (VN I think) he gets $100, Something to do with the Platinum and other expensive stuff inside, The VE cats are big as they rely on volume, the VN was a dirty donk and needed a super cat to clean it up, therefore more expensive stuff inside.
I had Premium plus 10% alcohol mix when I failed, with my Toyota Cats. I have sourced some Euro 3 cats that have been upgraded to Euro 4 with supposedly extra stuff inside???? I'll find out tomorrow if I've wasted more $$$$. $550 per test is not cheap either. |
cats off FG falcon are not a bad size, cross section is a triangle shape if i remember correctly. these are euro 4

I went through the test 3 months ago ,after 4 attempts and 2 dyno tunes I failed, on the 5th attempt changed the cats to second hand BA ones and passed with flying colours.

So there is no way to check this type of thing out before paying for the $550 test? Not even roughly? (Apart from taking the various advice offered of-course?) |

been twice so far with one of my toys failed twice second time was told engine looks like it passed but there was a vapour leak coming off the car causing it to fail. So new fuel cap, carbon canister, new fuel lines etc

VicRoads are relaxing the IM240 requirements apparently. It was posted on the clubby forum today by a reliable source. |

I am not sure how you would go in Victoria getting club rego.
As part of the requirement, is a rego check, and part of a rego check is checking for a Vin number. Different out here as vin number is issued upon requesting one, it is issued to a persons name until it is attached to a vehicle. |
here are the details, I totally missed the fact that replicas are allowed - wow is this ever a bonus for us Mexicans! I know I do not plan to drive my Cobra more than 90 days a year so this is perfect for me, not only will I save hundreds on rego per year, but I don't need silly things like triple wipers
