Emissions test tomorrow

I'm off for my emissions test tomorrow.

It failed last time by 0.02 parts per million, I reckon that the machine would have an error margin by at least 10ppm, so hopefully all goes well.

It failed previously to that by at least 6 x the required amount due to the sensors not getting the full whack of exhaust so they were trying to put more fuel into the beast based on a 2/4 exhaust port reading.

Anyway, hopefully a nice day for a drive if nothing else.

Good luck, and hope it goes well.

I wish you all the luck in the world!

interesting to see it failed, what mods are done to your 6.2L? If its stock as a rock then it should not be failing, where are your cats and o2 sensors positioned?

Good luck anyway!

Im guessing its not stock if supercharged.

What ECU is it?

Easy to miss, not that common. I was thinking my stock LS3 would be plenty of power. Must be a rocket with the supercharger.

The exhaust shop that did the extractors put them where they put all the other ones for LS1,2,76,98, .... but for the LS3 they had to be further down the collector pipe, not sure why. Moved them a few inches and they work a treat now.

Cats are where they could fit and are the decent type of ones, not the $50 ones.

I'll find out tomorrow am, it goes really well apparently and is stuck to the road like glue. It has the Ford 8.8IRS set up in it running 315 rears. No one has told me actual power at wheels, but way more than 300 with some form of traction control in place.

Running VY ECO on it with a tune. VE ECU didn't work as there was still some lockout that was in place. Sideshow did the VY ECU and wiring loom.

Stock VE Failed.

My stock VE L98 failed running stock VE ECU & sideshow loom with the 4 O2 sensors and new 2.5" Toyota Camry Cats very close to the donk, only missed by a bees appendage but still a fail! I know how T.L. must be feeling, Good luck,

I have been told by many sources that aftermarket cats are hit and miss when it comes to passing emmissions.

Run factory cats and make sure your car is hot, then you should be looking good to pass.

Ben

Well, it failed again, so its out with the aftermarket cats and I am sourcing some near new VE cats to put into the system.

Hopefully in a weeks time it will be tested again and will pass this time, then onto engineering.........

TL, sorry to hear the bad news. With the Harrison you may have to go with VZ cats which are triangular and just fit up beside the T56. The VE cats are bigger again and not straight through as they are fitted right below the exhaust collector in the Commodore. They have an elbow at one end which makes it very hard to fit under a Cobra.

Here is the underbody of my car with the VZ cats and skinny exhaust fitted last week by Yarra Valley Exhaust. The cats are now the lowest point on the car.

Sambo,

I see were using the same exhaust shop!!!.

I'll see how I go as I have already found some VE ones, and well fit them in somewhere near the top end. I use to work in the exhaust arena a while ago and it comes in handy every now and then.

Merv and Sharon 04-12-2011 02:11 AM

Sorry to hear that TL. The only thing I have on my Harrison are two aftermarket cats up front and a very small muffler each side. But we don't have to do emissions testing for new registrants ... yet.

Mando 04-12-2011 04:24 AM

That's the best under car system I've seen. I can't believe I got through with one of the "loner" exhaust systems going around. This is what I turned up with......

What a bugger!
But I'm sure it's still ok for all those pollies, former & current, to travel the globe by plane on pointless junkets!

I wish you best of luck for next time.

Put some alcohol in it. Alcohol runs emmisions "clean" and can put you over the top. About a quart per 5 gallons.
