Door sealing
Like others I don't mind driving my Cobra in the (light) rain. It seems part of the experience. I have a soft top and tonneau and both get used. However, the only annoying ingress of water is through the door gap. That is the water seems to collect and run along the top edge of the door and run down inside, coming down near your right knee on the drivers side.
Now this maybe a Harrison problem but I have tried the usual sticky backed foam with little success. Any other ideas or photos if materials that worked? |

As i'm not familiar with the harrison can you post pics of the area. There is a refrigeration black foam tape for laging pipes that may help. Not thick but may seal better than what ever you have used. Paul |
As far as I know they all leak there, I tried weatherstrip as you said and it still comes in.

If you go to clark rubber and buy some pinch weld you can actually peel the bubble part off it. Check out this link. The shaded part will peel off the solid pich weld and you can then glue it on with contact adhesive, double sided tape or sikaflex. It will work much better than any foam. Pinchweld Side Seal 66-040 - Side Seal or Door Seal Pinchweld. |
I just tried a piece and you're right. That gives a better seal. It may get a test tomorrow.

just looked at clark rubber catalog & you can buy the rubber with self adhesive by the metre & in other colours than black |
Thanks for that. I have pinch weld here still but the self adhesive stuff might be better. Seems that this is a common issue in Cobras, and this might help.

merv rang the local store he said he didn't have any stock with self adherive left
but sells a 3m product that you stick on then apply the seal too looks like nornal sticky tape but the backing comes away & thats what the door seals on fridges are held on with so must be good stuff rob hope this helps tape is about $ 15 o 20m roll forgot to ask what pinch seal was worth sorry brain fa#t |
Thanks again. No rain this morning on our Cobra group run here. Was a lovely morning on the way to Eumundi. Packed the hood and the tonneau and that seemed to keep the rain away. Will check out the local Clark Rubber tomorrow.

Merv, what height seal do you need there? Also what width base area do you have to stick it to? What length do you need?
We use a couple of different sizes of self adhesive "D" shaped seals as door seals. They are a hollow seal. Just imagine the "D" lying down with the flat side to the bottom. The largest we use is a 20mm wide base and 15mm high. Not sure if you will find that style at Clark Rubber. I can cut some off a roll here and post it up to you to try. If you are interested just PM me your postal address. Just note that some of the taller type seals won't stick there long term. The work fine with bonded to pinchweld, but when you try stick them directly to paint they don't last due to the friction and leverage against the base when the panel closes against them If we need extra height we just use an adhesive flat type rubber seal and stick the "D" shaped seal to the top. Still cosmetically looks ok as well. |

Just measured the next size down "D" moulding I have here for Merv and it is 15mm wide at the base and 10mm high at a pinch.

This seems to be the perfect size and profile, Craig. Have tested with the hose (sunny day!) and no leaks at all. Many thanks for sending this.

Not sure Paul it is simple in profile and only 10 mm high and 15 mm wide and has strong adhesion. Craig might know who sells it. Could be a bit of a breakthrough for all of us who get water coming in along that door channel.

Charge him heaps Craig! Warren I put it on the body not the door. Seems to sit better that way and the D mould deforms nicely to seal.
