Today was the day...

...I placed an order for a body/chassis unit, with various accessories. Delivery is ETA 5-6 weeks.

I went with Classic Revival.

Now the rush is on to get the garage finished in time to have somewhere to put the thing!

Can't wait!

beauies 06-15-2011 03:30 AM

Excellent news,

out of curiosity what are your various accessories?

cheers Brad

Modena 06-15-2011 03:37 AM

Accesories such as suspension arms (Ian fabricates his own for fronts), fuel tank, etc. Basically things which the Classic Revival chassis is setup to accept, and Ian can fabricate with his direct bolt-up laser-cut jigs. Of course I can get a tank made anywhere, but with one from CR I know it will bolt straight on with no stuffing around or measurements required, because the mounts are in the chassis for the CR design tank.

Parts that come straight from a donor vehicle with no mods (ie diff, hubs, etc) will be sourced elsewhere in the fullness of time as budget allows.

I'd just also like to add, a big thank you to all the Cobra owners which I have pestered over the years with many many questions. It has been a 15+ year dream to build one of these things, and now its actually starting! Special thanks to Gregg (gjkrv8) and Aussie Mike for all your time, input and tips, as well as all on this forum which provide such great support, advice and experiences.

Good luck Ben, I hope you really enjoy the 'journey' and create the car to turn those dreams ... into reality.

gjkrv8 06-15-2011 03:58 AM

Way to go Ben. I think I get just as excited when a new Cobra "breaks new ground" as I did with mine. I am still mucking around with mine when I get a chance. Missus doesnt understand that they are never finished :-)

Rgds

brilliant Ben, you're in for a great journey.

I found it hard not to hurry to get mine finished, just had to pace myself and enjoy the process.

as 2 g's says though, they're never really finished

Congrates Ben, delivery in 5 - 6 weeks, so will you be ready for the Nats? :)

stephen low 06-15-2011 06:12 PM

good move!

Well done Ben

As all have said enjoy the journey but do it well and once!

Nobody has asked the million dollar question though

Coyote motor or some lesser option? ie a GM product - lol

We Ford fanciers can say that now!!

And it is all the better as you are only a spit up the road from Mordi so i can come and have a sticky beak as you progress.

Cheers

Steve

The coyote platform is a seriously good engine, shame it has taken Ford 13 years to catch up. :)

Gav 06-15-2011 09:25 PM

Ben,
Great choice of kit, as Ben G said the new design looks to be a good thing.
Can't wait to see your progress.

Aussie Mike 06-15-2011 10:41 PM

Congratulations Ben! Exciting days ahead. Cheers

sambo 06-15-2011 11:02 PM

Congrats Ben, and fingers crossed for decent weather to allow that shed to be finished in time!

As for the supercharged Coyote, do you guys really expect the struggling FPV will flood the market with cheap crate motors as GMH were able to?

Modena 06-15-2011 11:57 PM

thanks guys
engine will be LSx

ready for NATs 2013 maybe!
