Hello All,
I need a 351 Clevo long motor, it must be pre 1982. any condition. STIFFY |
what changed in '82 ?????
|
Pre 1982
Barry,
The manifold and a few other things I hear. Its for an old car ( 1977 XC Coupe ) so I want to keep it sort of original. STIFFY |
Actually, the Cleveland was only offered in the US from 1970 to 1974...the 351M (sometimes thought to mean "modified", other times said to indicate "Midland", where the factory was located) and 400M were offered for a considerable time after that.
The "M" series had a higher deck height than the Cleveland. Intake manifolds do not interchange between the Cleveland and the "M" series, not sure about the cranks, but most everything else will. From a purely power related point, you'd be much better off with the slighter smaller and slightly lighter Cleveland, but if you want to retain the originality you'll need to determine which motor the car has (almost surely one of the "M" series). The "M" series are making great strides, though, as more development occurs. They have recently scored very well in Popular Hot Rodding's "Engine Masters" competition. Both the Cleveland and the "M" series were part of the Ford 335 family of engines: Ford 335 engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia {edit....I just realized you're in AU....that's very different, you were lucky enough to have the Cleveland versions for much longer than we Americans had them.} Cheers from Dugly!! |

Is a 302 and 351 block the same?
I know of a few 302 cleavo longs. And if not when I get back into town, I can ask a few fraud guys I know |
351 Cleveland
I have three 351C motors, two blocks, one four bolt main, the others are 2 bolt mains, 2 barrel heads.
Some I remember are '72 and '73. But I would have to look at them again. For sale cheap. Email me algunruner@aol.com Dwight I know I'm a long ways from Australia, but the price it very good. |

351
Hey Boxhead,
I have sourced a 351 crank/rods etc. If the block and other stuff is OK I will rebuild it as a 351. If not I might do the crate engine thing...... STIFFY |
found some hp ford parts and motors
A guy in Buford Georgia is retired and has his old salvage yard. Lots of early model parts. Had a built 351. Not sure what year but worth a shot. 7709459945 is his garage number he is always looking to sell his stuff. Very fair prices when I bought from him.

All my friends think I'm warped but I always dreamt of having a 351 XC Coupe. Lowered, mini tubs, and all modern running gear, love it. :p
Regards. |

Back when I was a young fella, a mate had a XC GXL Coupe thing that had 14x12's in the bum, no modification. |

I liked the xa gt for the fake vents on the front guards and recessed tail lights, though must admit Seton's silver xb and the red XB currently in the Muscle Car Masters series are hitting the spot.
