Rotisserie wanted

Hey Guys

Anyone with a rotisserie they want to sell or have no medium term use for and happy to loan out?

I've acquired a tin top for a resto and it will be a back to bare metal exercise, so I'd like to put the chassis on a rotisserie for ease of early work.

If you have one or know of one that is available, I'd love to hear from you.

Stephen. Have you considered a couple of second-hand engine stands off eBay and around $25 of steel to make adaptors for each end.



I loaned my rotisserie "for a quick job" once, and once only!

Now there's a different solution thanks for that idea mate.

Your's look pretty substantial, whose engine stands are these?

I obviously have to make adapters to fit the front and rear but am being told to also look at a flex control under the length of the body which makes sense.

I do want to be able to get the car a long way down its reassembly build, so there will likely be some substantial weight over just the chassis, by the time suspension reattaches and the whole car then sits back on its own wheels, or at least upright on a trolley.

You mentioned a 'chassis' in post #1. Do you have a body over chassis (a la Bolwell, Elan, etc) or a unibody vehicle?

Engine stands have load ratings but I'm guessing two x 2000 lbs stand would take whatever you have otherwise how are you going to get it on to the rotisserie! I used 1000 lb stands and inserted a 300mm extension into the vertical post, that gave me ground clearance and cleared the fluro lights on an 8' ceiling.

If you can mount off the suspension points then its shouldn't flex. I don't really have any good photos to illustrate but the 'legs' of the adaptors at the front ran along the main rails on my project (edit - 240Z). I wince when I see folks fixing adaptors to the bumper mounts.

It's a standard vehicle monocoque design and I'm months away from really investigating mounting options, but yes agree bumper mount locations are generally not designed to hold up whole vehicles.

I've joined the car club so will be asking all sorts of research questions including how best to hang the chassis for this work.

What is the chassis pictured above?

So in a similar year range mine being a 1972 or thereabouts car.
