What engine would you run if no rego hassles
Simple question, and please only for the Aussies (different world over here as opposed to USA)
Just imagine, emission regs dont exist, and your chassis is strong enough and approved for a 727 jet engine (so anything goes).
What would you fit.
The car you have is a 427SC model (most popular as far as kit suppliers go)
Hmmm, I wanted to add a poll with available options, but just realised I have not done it before and dont know how too.
Ok for me in that shaped car, it would have to be a 427 side oiler with 2 great big carbies, oval air cleaner with larger turkey pan. and side pipes.
Would like 700ish HP (at the treads) and a butt load of torque.

with the trumpets (TWM fast) & the EFI goodies!

ditto Dimis, although I think he meant a 427 SOHC Cammer, save the stroking for a rebuild later. Probably go with a DART Alu block and have Gessford build it, meeting tolerances down to a nat's ass is a Gessford specialty.

For me its a Boss 331, just love the combination. Dart block, yates heads and cross ram injection with plenty of special carbon fibre bits. Am very lucky, hope to have it in by years end. Althought the stock market gobbled a bit of it up last week.

Funny you should say that.
Many moons ago when I lived in Canberra and the Toyota Crown kit was around I also had a few spare chook cookers laying around. I went to the Dept of Motor transport and they siad that installing one would create no problems as the 'standard' horsepower was the same as a 2600 crown engine. I formulated a cunning plan to put a chook cooker in the crown I got for a song and then later get the crown chassis based cobra body.
To this day I still have nightmares of my intentions and am greatful I didn't do it.
Young. dumb and full of ?? empty wallet back then.

I'm getting 1,000 klm out of my 2.0 litre diesel Golf for 50 litres. I don't know what it would sound like with side pipes but there would be plenty of room in the engine bay.
Great news today and time to pull out the good bottles of red. My engineeer has finally supplied a 17 page report on the calculations of the stress points on the Cobra and when I get off here, I have to email them to the RTA. Hopefully, I will then receive a new inspection date and have the car registered before the massive changes occur in NSW with the NSW RTA structure.

I'm going to go for a budget that mere mortals can afford so no 427 SO motor.
I reckon a Clevor would be the go. Dart or SVO 351 Windsor bottom end out to about 392 cubes with some alloy CHI 3V Cleveland heads on top and one of their 4 barrel manifolds.
