Nice cars Joe.
Most people would be happy with one! Ben |
Hey Joe...Fantastic Collection...loved the T.V. interview.
What's that ????... Come around anytime for a better look and a few beers???... No way mate.... I couldn't impose like that !!!.... BUT..... The Cockroaches and your fellow Mexicans aren't as polite as us refined Queenslanders....They'd be all over that !!! But Seriously....they would !!!! But really seriously.... Lovely collection, and maybe you can roll a few of these out at the Nationals ?? AND... As for your taste in music...MY GOD..........Typical rough and ready Victorian tastes !!!! I ....like most cultured and evolved Queenslanders...prefer Classical music. http://www.clubcobra.com/photopost/d...m/IMG_0157.jpg All the best for Christmas and the New Year to the entire Cobra Community everywhere...( Even N.S.W. and Victoria)... from all of us Polite and Refined Queenslanders !!Cheers, Warren Boylan, Club Pres., Cobra Car Club of Queensland. |
Welcome along Joe,
I was just killing time on eBay (expensive habit) and spotted this. http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAyNFg3OT...Izw~~60_12.JPG Not sure, but suspect that may be your car on the cover? Sports Car World 1968 Apr Midget LANCIA 2C AC Cobra Honda S800 Elfin 3000 MG | eBay |
Nope. The car on the cover of the magazine is an AC 289, COX 6114.
|
Is this another ond still in Oz or has it benn shipped off shore aswell?
|
I was asking the question before - but how many early build Cobras are there in Australia now? So far we seem to have only identified three!

You guys are writing your own book here and now. Good detective work and passion for the breed coming out. |
Nedsel tells us: "The car on the cover of the magazine is an AC 289, COX 6114."
I believe the COX series included cars completed with left hand drive (COeXport). Cars constructed for sale in England were included in the COB series. Is this one more thing I have backwards? |
I think you're right Steve but the side the wheel finished up on was dictated by where it was being "X"ported to.
|
Dave, I have that magazine as well. If you notice the date it is 1968, the car could be anywhere by now.
I was going to post all the pic's I have of aussie cobra's ovethe years when I am back from holidays. From memory there's at least 10 I know of |
That would be great. 10 is a lot but maybe they aren't all here now?
|
That blockhead nedsel is asleep. He meant to say COB 6114. Anyone knows an AC with a steering wheel on the right hand side was designated for Great Britain and other RHD territories. :) And last time we checked (2000) the car was still in Victoria.

Nedsel
Great to see you are recognized in the new book. Think the red Cobra is still with David R. in Victoria if I have the right Cobra. Bernie |
Yes, Bernie - you have the right car.

I was reading a Australian Classic Car magazine the other day, the 2003 issue involving the comparison of the Classic Revival and the AC Cobra 427 (above). Not much of an article really and no 'comparison', as was suggested on the cover.
In the same mag., there is a round-up of the then Cobra Kit and car makers/finishers: Classic Revival, Cobra Craft, Cobra Kits, Cobra Technology Centre, DRB/GT40 Australia, G Force, Jagdaim, Python, Replica Motor Company, RCM, and Robnell. I must admit RMC and RCM had me confused and Jagdaim, I had not heard of before. There seem to be some different players these days (Absolute Pace, FF, BDM, etc.) with some others soldiering on. |
[quote=Merv and Sharon;1165972]I am told that a certain well known Aussie racing identity has finished restoring his two Cobras:
The 2 Cobras were not restored by John B. They were restored By 'Robnell Concours' shortly after they were acquired by the current owner. |
