Very neat and tidy Baz. Like the expansion tank too. Have you been for a drive yet with someone else driving? It is a different experience, one which I had today, coming down a mountain road with my son in the chair. Gives one quite a different perspective.

No Merv. My son can drive it when they put me in a box.

Ok Baz that answers the next question. You're not going to be buried in the car!

Baz,

Looks great. Looks like a modern factory built classic, it all works very well together and I am sure that you enjoy the drive.

Hi all.

I took my GT40 down to Wakefield Park with my lady for some fun and after we finished I let her have her first drive of my 40 from Wakefield Park down to Bungendore ( about 60 Km's away ) which also included overtaking a B double semi that was doing 100Km's per hour.

When we got to Bungendore she had the biggest smile on her face and her only comment was " How soon can I have one ", so now I am about half way through building one for her which will be identical to mine but with the exception of Power Steering for her's.

She can't wait for it to be finished.

Dimi.

Dimi, please, more pictures, a lot more pictures! ;)

Stickerless

Sorry it's taken so long Dave and Chrome, but I've had a few computer and health problems. At any rate, here are a few recent photos of the car without the stickers.

Baz - someone told me they thought your car might have been in unique cars Mag (for sale). Tell me it isn't so!!

Wazza 04-26-2012 08:51 PM

No...That's a car from near Ballina...( Geoff Harris's)
It's an "as new" Harrison..with lots of nice stuff on it. ($85,000-00 )

Cheers,
Warren

Tenrocca 04-26-2012 09:16 PM

Thanks Waz - that must be the one as that was the price that was quoted.

Cheers

I'll have to check out the latest issue Andrew. I know the missus isn't too wrapped in the car as it scares the living daylights out of her and she now refuses to even get in to it anymore, but I doubt whether she has gone that far yet. I hope not any rate.

In short. No it's not for sale and never will be.

Sure looks like Baz's car... pg188 Unique cars May2012.

Baz - Are you sure your car is still in the garage? :p

Take care.

Rob. Smith 04-27-2012 04:36 AM

BAZ either you're a terrible driver or your Cobra is a monster. If your missus won't ride in it you will have to do some fancy coercing to do the outings etc.... If she's too scared to drive it then that's not a bad thing. ha ha ha

byroncobra 04-27-2012 04:21 PM

Wazza's correct.

That car was a 'turnkey' build by Warwick. It's only a couple of years old and has been advertised numerous times in Unique Cars. I don't know the owner but if he gets around the money asking (it was @$99k last time i recall) that's around $40k down the drain...........ouch.

Nice car though with some expensive upgrades.

Have checked. It's still there. The car's not for sale, but the wife is if anyone is interested.

I checked out the magazine article today. Similar colour, but my stripes are silver grey and the Cobra in the mag has white stripes. It also has bolt up rims while mine are pin drive Vintage. The trim is a different colour / quality and the dash is setup in a different configeration and finally, his aksing price is about 1/2 of what my car has cost me.

I didn't even put her through a few corners. Only gave it a squirt in a straight line and that was enough for her. She reckons her back has never been the same since from the g forces generated during that short blast and likened it to the sensation you get in a commercial jet during takeoff.

While I'm talking about G Forces, it is alleged that Carrol Shelby had a $100 note stuck onto the passengers side dash in his twin supercharged 427 side oiler. Apparently, if you could remove that note from the dash during acceleration, it was yours.

My wife definitely won't drive it and has vowed never to get in it again.

Your right Rob. It is a monster, that's the car I'm talking about. Can't wait to put my Comp Roller Cam and a good set of springs in. That will ensure a peaceful solo drive every time I take it out.

On the other side of the coin, my 36 year old intellectually handicapped daughter Louise, loves every bit of it, especially the sound and the torque.
