Good on ya Baz, You've gotta make it feel like a Military jet taking off !!!
I've got a Comp Cams Hydraulic roller cam and found (the hard way) that it needs a special 'Hard' distributor drive gear.....give ICE ignition a call ...Michael Konstandinou on 03 9532 6000 . They make their own super hard drive gears. I have one now.

Have you got a distributor in yours Baz? GM hides em' well under all those covers ;)

BTW, what cam are you fitting? I have a Comp Cams '232/234 xtreme XE-r' in mine, great cam, but you will need to fit a stall converter.
Is the converter you have now a stockie?

Yes, as far as I know Gav. My cam is Stock No 54.444.11. Model XER273HR which works between 2 & 7,000 rpm. The coil valve springs are Crane LS6 Dual's.

That will be a great choice for a street cobra Baz.
Valve springs are a necessity IMHO.

Give Dominator converters a ring, they will need to know the weight, diff ratio, cam specs ect of your car and will build you a converter to suit.
You will be dissapointed with your new cam if you don't, it'll bog down off the line and will be doughy to drive.
A stall converter will allow the engine to flash up to the revs at which your cam will start to make power.
I'd think you would want about a 2500-2700 rpm stall speed.
The TCC (torque converter lock up) can be retained too.

The factory converter will have been designed for an 1800KG car. When installed in a 1200KG car the stall speed will be even lower. Car weight is a big factor in torque converter setup. I reckon a dialed in high stall converter would be a good thing to have even with a stock cam in a Cobra.

Cheers
