Default Dyno failure!

I bought a large gear driven supercharger, fuel system and intake in preparation for a slight horsepower increase in my Chevelle. The parts that I bought were on a 98 octane street engine that made 1530 horsepower on this dyno.

Steve Morris makes some pretty impressive engine combinations and posts the results on his website. Here's the outcome from a twin supercharged motor that was set to make 2000+hp...

By the look of that shaft it's been ready to go for a while !

Did the engine survive? Losing the load at that rpm can be damaging.

Luckily the engine wasn't affected. Forces like that could have torn the block apart... I don't know the specs of that motor, but a high end twin F2 Procharged Morris motor is probably a $40k package...!

There looks to be an issue where the flange was weld onto the shaft I would say the shaft is a high carbon steel and the flange is a lower grade.... it looks to have broken where the two have been welded together. I think maybe a metalurgic problem between the steels and the weld and the heat...maybe a little misalignment aswell... The shaft and the flange should be spun out of one piece of Billet...
