Thanks guys. Talked to CR and there is no chassis rail behind the seat, so you can move the seat all the way back to the firewall. I'm 90% sure I'll go for the CR kit. Not my favorite color, but some black striping will set it out.
JD.
P.S.
Tenrocca, can the au rear end be shortened to accept deep dish?
|
This is true, but the base of the seat wont be hard up against the firewall unless you like to sit with your seats on zero incline. ie riding with a pole shoved up your arse look. Popular in some circles. My seats are fixed back on what I think is a perfect angle and the base is about 6" off the bottom of the back wall with the top of the seat touching.
There a few threads on shortening the arms on a CR. not easy, but doable. Search the forum. That said there are some wheels that look good on standard dish. The Orphans 15" Team 3's look fantastic and I really like Gavs American racing salt flats (kidney bean).

The ones I've seen had a gap at the top as well. Yes I can't sit straight up.
If I need to, I'll get surgery to shorting my legs. I've had the cobra fever for years, and there is no cure. What is with these machines that inspires us. No woman will truly understand. "Yes that's nice dear" aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh.

I've agreed to buy the cr, just waiting for his response.:D:D:D:D:D

It's done. After to many years of dreaming. I've bought a Cobra.:D:D:D:D:D:p It feels better then getting married. {glad the wife doesn't read this, lol].

Think about the auto though - less desirable IMO if you ever want to sell.

Your right. I'll make it a manual. I'm not going to use the 351 anyway. Talked to my engine guy, he said too heavy and wide. So it'll be a 302 windsor. What is a good manual, toploader?
Thanks again guys for helping me out. Guess I'll be here for a while getting advice on the build.
Now I got to get it from Penrith back to Adelaide somehow. What would a trucking company charge? If it comes to worse, I'll have to drive there.

Trucking quotes from Melbourne to Sydney when i got mine were around $800. The road trip is fun and it is great looking in the rearview mirror and seeing it sitting there on the way home.

True true. Best quote for nonn driving vehicle is $910. but it needs brakes. to 1700 but will take 3 weeks. I think it's best to pick it up. Would it be best to cover it? It'll be behind a van, so out of the wind anyway. And it'll be nice to hand over the cash personally. The guy will be in tears, I reckon.

congratulations Jaydee!
When I had mine shipped from CR in Sydney to Melbourne it was about $700, but was almost impossible to find anyone who would actually do it, and for that price it was only to the depot, so a mate towed it 50k's from depot to my place. If I had the tow capability I would have driven to Sydney to get it.

I would be doing a road trip to collect.
However, if you cant, try Ceva logistics for transport.
Congrats on the purchase, appeared to be a good deal.

Congrats Jaydee!
Go with a Toploader! Incidentally, there's not much difference in size from a 351W (deck height around 9.5") to a 302 (around 8.2")
Cheers,

Go a late model Windsor, running on petrol, get a 5 speed manual (TKO) seems popular.
Will make the car a great cruiser, it looked to have Ford engine mounts already.
Get an after market manifold and throttle body setup but in EFI and fit a turkey pan filter assy, will look just right.

But it is a Ford, in a Cobra ... But also, plenty of good, cheap late model Windsors around, if they meet the emissions.
