I bought Pricol gauges.
Black face and chrome surround, they do not do a clock, so I fitted a Smiths one. I layed mine out with me sitting in drivers seat. Gauges, Custom Gauges, Tachometers, Speedometers, Shift Light, Pod I looked into this site. And you can change the colors, place logos etc, Anybody tried these?

A basic look I might go for. Has anyone tried using GPS speedos? These gauges have warning lights. JD |
There are few people kicking around here who have Speedhut gauges, all reports are good as far as I know and they are nicely made and appear good quality.
There has been prior discussion on GPS speedos (search), I've never used one but I think their general issue is response speed (oops, a pun, I mean time to respond to changes in speed) |

Boxhead, Is that windscreen high enough to deflect the wind over your head?

That stuff is only good for cooking sausages. The screen in that pic is the one I fitted at Rego time, aero screen that you look over, so no requirement for demister or wipers, I like the uncluttered race car look. |

I have built a few engine on pure gas. I wouldn't go higher than 11:1. Retime the dizzy, special cam grind. I just like LPG, because it's cleaner, no moving parts, no fuel pumps, crank, airflow, throttle position, map sencors etc. Also If you don't drive it much, the fuel won't go of and attract moisture etc. Oil stays cleaner, plugs don't foul. I just don't like the smell. And with a 4 barrel manifold and a 425 Impco mixer and a big aircleaner, it'll look like a carby engine. If done right, it's very reliable.

I have gauges from speed hut. They look really nice and come with all the bits and pieces.
I havnt powered them up yet but happy with looks and build quality. |
The speed hut gauges are great. I installed them over a year ago, and they perform and look fantastic. The illumination at night is better tham most mechanical gauges I have seen. The install is verry easy, but to me the main benefit was how shallow the back of the gauges is, as my real estate behind the dash was tight. I also have the GPS speedo. I can't fault it. The only pitfall is you loose the speed display when you go through a tunnel, but hey who is looking at the speedo in a tunnel when your auditory senses are in overload.

What was your main reason to fit the GPS speedo.
I do like some of the extra features, but where do you put the pick up antenna? What if you go through the city. Do the buildings block the signal at all? Do you like the quad gauge? JD |
My main reason for gps speedo was the space saved by the gauge being a little over 1 inch deep behind the dash. This allowed me a lot more flexibility in my dash layout, and I was able to position my gauges the way I liked without interference from my heater/demister etc. My other issue was that with most other gauges, I was not able to find a speedo cable converter to fit my gearbox. I did not want to go down the path of an electronic wheel pick up.
As far as functionality, the only topography I have had problems with so far, have been tunnels. The gps antenna is the size of a 20c coin roughly and about 1.5 cm thick. Has a good strong magnetic base and I have simply placed it on the windscreen pillar under the dash. You can conceal it under the dash on any metalic surface quite easily. The quad gauge is ok. I preffer the look of the individual gauges, but if space or layout was an issue, then I would use the quad rather than do without a reading. |
