car completed

I pick up the car tomorrow after a final tune, side pipes and polish. Has come up exceptionally well.

Looking forward to the warmer weather that has just arrived today as a matter of fact, so smiles all round I feel. :D

Way to go T.L. Sounds great. Enjoy.

Good job TL, I can tell you I'm a bit envious ;)
I've had a few holdups with mine but hey the journey has got to be worth the trip though :)

Well done Lawrence, must be a good feeling after all the difficulties with IM240, diff, etc.

Who are you trusting with the tuning duties?

Keen to see pics and the power curve!

Nice one Lawrence, hope to catch up at the Nationals next month, my son and I met you the last time we went in 2009 when you were first considering the project. Looking forward to seeing the finished car.

The power curve was a bit wild. I haven't seen it, but it when I was told the conversation was like this. (Doug Pearce has been doing the build and I couldn't be happier with the completed job, I was chief parts procurer)

'DP : cars ready. it's had it's final tune. (we talked about a few other things as well, but this was the pertinent points)
Me: how was the HP
DP : it had 417
Me : So, that would be at the wheels. 417 HP is pretty good.
DP : No, that was kW at the rear wheels!.
Me : Oh, that's a bit.'

Driving it back from Lilydale this afternoon, I put my foot down and accelerated like 'oh crap' then I realised I didn't have my foot to the floor, so I gave it a bit more and it's quite astonishing the amount of go it has everywhere. It has live pipes and it can actually be quite quiet when in 5th just tootling along, then you give it some stick and it sounds like a Harley, you know the loud ones that you sit there and wonder how come the fun police don't ping them for noise.

The supercharger was rated at 470kW and 750NM, so I would assume flywheel figures there. This is just a basic stock LS3 with a 1900cc charger on the top, there is a 2300cc one as well.

Brilliant. Photo's coming when I can put them up.

Errol at EFI Dynamics in Lilydale. Can't recommend him enough. I have a LS1 in an FJ40 that will be going there for a tune as well. That only had 200kW at the wheels, but that's enough for what that car does.

Derek,

I wont be coming to the Nationals as we are expecting a child and you know those things have a mind of their own!!.

Will probably be able to get away for the Shelbyfest in March next year, but that will depend on how many brownie points I've earn't!!!. I've just had a weekend away 4wd'ing, and that was probably the last for the year.

Maybe 2014.

Cheers

Lawrence

Looks Unreal T.L..bet that SC LS3 gives those Kuhmo's a work out.

Do you reckon you need the 2300 CC:LOL:

Congratulations, should be very proud and happy with it:D

Took the car out for it's first decent run today. Very impressive. Suspension needs some fine tuning, but boy does the thing have some go. It manages to break traction in 3rd and it motors along nicely at 100kmph in 5th with little exhaust noise, but then you give it a bit of right foot and the whole car comes alive.

Got a few things to sort out, but it was nice to take it out. Started out in the middle of a busy street with a flat battery, so within a few minutes of stopping I had a person come and help me push it off the road, then I had this lovely elderly lady give me a lift to the mechanics shop 1km away where I purchased a new battery. She then gave me a lift back to my car where my heavily pregnant wife was waiting.

Put the new battery in and we were off. Ride height needs to come up 5-10mm to stop the wheels hitting the guards though. I love it when your accelerating at a fast rate, then you put your foot down a bit more, then its huge grin time.

Merv and Sharon 09-11-2012 06:42 PM

That could have induced an early birth! Could be a new birth technique though.
