Shelby Fest and the Public.....

Hi all,

The main track day for the Shelby Fest is the 23rd of March - the Saturday.

As we have some great sponsors who kick in a lot of dollars and product, we thought we would promote the Saturday track day to the motoring public.

Both supporting the sponsors and promoting Cobra ownership.

I am looking for some ideas along with your support to get more of the motoring public along to watch the track events and meet our members, participants and sponsors.

Any ideas, connections, advertising that we can get for free etc. would be
appreciated.

To date I have forwarded event details to the Melbourne Sun newspaper for their motoring section the week before.

I have sent event details to Unique Cars and Just World Cars. Also to the RACV for their motoring event section.

Just World Cars have offered free magazine give aways for anyone who turns up and they will supply show bags that the sponsors are invited to put promotional material in on the Friday - handing out to public on Saturday.

Just World cars have also offered to do some adds in their magazine a couple of months prior.

I secured some sponsorship from McDonald's local Owners at Wangarratta and Hume Highway 1 and 2. They will cover the cost of some radio adds that cover the entire northern region of
Victoria. Inviting the general motoring public to come along.

One of the other options is to invite Ford car clubs to make a day run and a display in the car park behind the canteen.

Additionally, we will and have discussed inviting competitive Mustang and GT Ford owners to bring their cars and be part of the track and events.

Just a few ideas so far.. But I am looking for any ideas or contacts you may have in papers,
magazines, radio etc...

Thanks guys let's get things out there and public

Sounds like the club's great little home grown event might just blast off if it all comes to fruition Bernie.

Love your passion and drive mate!

Sounds great Bernie.
The mustang guys are great fun on the track.
Perhaps the 'Cougar' might make a come back?

Gav 11-08-2012 06:43 PM

Perhaps a judged 'show and shine' might be the go, there are always Cobras (and anything else for that matter) at the track but not competeing.

'Best non shiney Cobra' would be a hotly contested division. :)

I will give mine an extra rub with scotch brite, just to make sure there is no shine.

May sound crazy...but, the local Highway Patrol here often support car meets, good PR for them and the Wallopers are usually car nuts, the youngsters love clambering all over the Cop Cars.

Another, subject. Any QLDers heading down in March? Is there a Nationals type convoy planned?

PM sent brother.
Let me where I can help.
Thank you for all that you do.

Bernie, the local pap ers up this way pretty much all have regular/weekly motoring sections and seem quite happy to promote these types of events both in the motoring section and the general news sections of their papers, the other good way to get some good air time on radio would be to arrange for rides local radio personalities, this may need to happen prior to the event to get maximum value but Winton has regular track days that could be used for track time for this purpose (generally Fridays). If it helps i can track down contact details for the local papers and send them through.

Stuartt. Thanks for the local ideas. The local McDonalds owner is possibly a good start. Tully L. there has a long family history in the town. Any links, contacts and numbers would be good

BMK 11-09-2012 02:21 AM

Dimis - Anth thanks mate for those numbers and email addresses. I will need to get some good photos from previous events etc.

Great idea to get some external displays. Re the Police I will discuss with the locals to gauge their responses.

One more ask for help. Does anyone have contacts in the GT Ford or Mustang Racing fraternity?
I will be at the Sandown Classic Historics on the weekend will chase any competitors up there. But any contacts, mates etc would be a good lead.....B

BMK 11-09-2012 02:27 PM

Hi all I will be at the Historics tomorrow at Sandown Racetrack and will chase up the Victorians involved in Mustang and older Ford racing. Just grabbing a few names and mobiles that I can send information too...%/

If anyone from New South has a lead?
.....

I hope you are referring to your car Dave. I know you Territorian's are tough, but 'scrotch brite'... Ouch!!!!!!!!!!

We Southerner's use K.Y.

Bernie
On the serious side , why not send a request to each President of of the States Cobra Club's requesting advertising or other support. I know that a number of members of these clubs have a close affiliation with C.A.M.S. and the A.R.D.C.

Don't forget sponsors like Lumleys and Shannons. Also utilise 'Fletch' on 'Classic Resto's" which shows on T.V.S. (Channel 44) and 'Glenn' on 'Gasolene' which shows on TV4ME (Chanels 64 & 74.)

Just a couple of ideas which I think will provide results.

It's only 4 weeks before we are off to the States for 2 months. Have a great Christmas and all the success in the world for Shelbyfest.

Good morning all.

I am meeting with our graphic artist later today and require one or two good images of Cobras on the race track.

Whilst I would prefer to use Australian cars anything will do that depicts a Cobra or two racing.

To my email. kni-time@bigpond.net.au

Sorry we are unable to acknowledge the photographer..

boxhead 11-14-2012 05:28 PM
