When I built my big inch Windsor EFI, I looked all over for a damper that I could use that already had a trigger wheel. It would have been nice to be able to use some stock components, like sensors and brackets.
But, my engine is internally balanced, with a 0 ounce balancer. Nobody makes one with an integral trigger wheel. My engine is batch fired, so doesn't need a cam signal. I ended up having a custom 36-1 trigger wheel made, and then fabbing the sensor bracket. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...smallwheel.jpg If course, I still needed something to drive the oil pump. My budget will definatly not allow a dry sump system, or an external oil pump. I had an old mallory distributer that I kept around for parts. I took it apart and cut it down to use as a pump drive. The cap is made from 1" copper plumbing end cap and some scrap metal. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2.../Assembled.jpg I started out about 10 years ago with a Haltech F-10 fuel only system. I thought it was an excellent system, dead on reliable, and I learned a lot with it. Last year I got rid of it for something more sophisticated to control both fuel and spark. |
