Brake pipe flaring tool
Ok I have got one of those cheapie sets..I have had it for years, but I am sick of swearing at it...My current tool and I have had some good converstions...like me cursing at it then throwing it against the wall only to pick it up , dust it off and try again. I must admit that we have done alot of cars togethor.
I would like to get a decent flaring tool this time so am wondering what you Guys use and where you got it from? Was looking at this from Summit K Tool Professional Brake Flaring Tool Kits 70081 |
I own one and love it.
I borrowed one similar from another forum member (Hogster in Darwin), his kit had more fittings and dies. But this one had all I needed. |
Box you got the exact kit i listed? From summit?

I bought this one for $42 from ebay, and OMFG it is the biggest pile of steaming horse manure I have ever used. The first time I used it the 3/16" die bent a bit, the flares could not seal-in solid concrete - absolute rubbish.

I got a similar unit........it worked ok.....But sometimes I had to do it 2 or 3 times.........

Yes, from memory there is the 3/16th in the kit.
Eastwood was the one that Hogster leant me, exact same tool, but with more dies. The K-Tool one had all i needed. |
Like hsv300 I have a Mastercool 71475 Universal Hydraulic Flaring Tool Kit. Easy to use and so far have never had a bad flare.

This is what I use for stainless lines. It does not slip or screw up the double flare.

I have a Mastercool also and it works good. I have used an Eastwood that was very nice and fast but I couldn't justify the cost.

At the price on the above link, if freight is comprable, i would get the Eastwood one.

For the late model engine cars the Master cool unit is the the way to go It will handle the fuel lines and AC lines as well. You don't have to mount it in a vise. It can do repaire on the car as well.

I only want to do double flare 3/16 brake pipe. I ordered the K tool from Summit. Fingers crossed it does a good job.....

It does, I made all the stainless brake and fuel pipes in the 540 using the same toold.

I have a "Blue Point" made by Snap-On it does single ,double and ISO bubble flares. I used to work at a Meineke Muffler and used it hundreds of times and it still works great.
