Mads94 - Congratulations
https://www.facebook.com/racecentre?hc_location=stream
Im sure he will give us all the details, but Mads has won a drive in a "Aussie racing cars" car at Homebush. We all know he is good behind the cobra. A lesson for all dads, stop telling your kids that all that time on playstation wont find you a job. Well done mate. Cheers |
Well done Mads :)
Don't forget us little people once you're famous. |
Thanks guys! Definitely a massive opportunity, still can't believe it!
Just a run down on how the competition works and the prize itself... Basically various sim racers had an opportunity to make the Grand final through many different ways. Top 16 would make the Grand Final which was held last night at the Sydney store and Gold Coast store. The game played is rFactor and is run on full motion simulators in the stores. Last night there were 3 races, I managed to put it on pole and win all 3! :3DSMILE: The prize is obviously to drive an Aussie Racing Car at the Sydney 500 later this year! But before that I will be flown to Queensland for a test day to ensure that I can drive the car at an acceptable level and acquire a CAMS licence. So fingers crossed I can get through that ok! But absolutely over the moon to get an opportunity like this! Can't wait! https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...41784065_n.jpg |
Congratulations Mads, fantastic,
I was thinking about you the other day watching Bathurst thinking how young all these V8 Super Car drivers looked and wondering how you would go or get a start. When you're famous I can tell everyone that I beat you in the drags (no need to mention I had an auto though! :LOL) Cheers and good luck! |
Well done mads. Now it starts to get expensive. Lol
If your doing your practical ODT (observed driving test) nat circuit the 3 main things they emphasized with me when I did mine to pass were A. Drive quick enough B. Consistently Heel toe double clutch while down shifting C. Look up and well ahead while driving. You need all 3 but they really emphasize C. Good luck and keep us posted. An awesome effort. |
Congrats Mate.....no wonder I couldn't catch you at the Nationals, I'll settle for 3rd in the 5.0l class :):)

a good idea BTW, I keep finding myself looking at apexes rather than ahead that's why I'm too bloody slow I 'spose:confused: |
Paul Stokel told me about a guy he was helping at qr in a Ferrari. Emphasized point C... As he left the pits another car had spun and stopped on turn 4 nat circuit. A min or so later....Ferrari crashed into spun car...
Can't stress how important looking through the corners and ahead in straights is. It's like using your mirrors every 2 secs when u do your truck license... Same thing... |
I've ridden motorcycles since a kid, one of the first things that you learn when cornering is to look thru corners, if you don't, at speed, you'll soon find yourself running out of road....
|
Well done Mads - I'm very proud.
Your technical and mature approach to driving is well beyond your years. I am sure you are easily capable of mixing it up with the Aussie Racing Car guys. I can't wait to see you on the track at Homebush. |
Well done Mads free drives are always the best the cars are light and nimble you will have a ball going into the first corner 4 wide.
|
Here is a video of the Race to Reality final at Sydney. Absolutely awesome clip, very well edited!
|
For anyone interested, Madison is at Morgan Park today for a test session before the Sydney event.
I will be very interested to see what he thinks of the Aussie Racing Car compared to the Cobra |
Hi Kim,
Probably safe, sluggish and sloppy  he'll nail it! Go Mads!! |
Pretty cool cars hey! I can not believe how much grip they have, even well past the limit they still have grip! They just lure you in to push and push and push, exactly how they look on TV. What's so great about them is, unlike in a full size car, the way to get lap speed is to be ultra committed and just drive it as hard as you can. Where as in a "normal" car you need to be ultra smooth to get a lap time out of it. Very different to drive that's for sure.
Absolutely awesome cars though. By far the most fun i've had on a race track so far! Managed a 1:27 at Morgan Park. I think the top ARC guys run about 1:25's so not too bad... Bring on the Sydney 500! https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.n...39870737_n.jpg Hotlap video |
Well done mate. Awesome effort.
|
Go Mads!
|
Mads' big weekend!
Good luck Mads and make anyone here that's come close to keeping up with you feel good. :3DSMILE: |
Friday practice = no time given
Friday qualifying = 19th out of 39 Saturday race 1 = 17th out of 30 finishers - fastest lap quicker than 9th place finisher. Saturday race 2 = DNF, 5 of 8 laps completed - fastest lap quicker than 11th place finisher. (edit) Sunday race 3 = 25th out of 34 finishers - fastest lap quicker than 11th place finisher. Sunday race 4 = 18th out of 31 finishers - fastest lap quicker than 12th place finisher. Congratulation, very very impressive. see Natsoft Race Results |
Apparently got to 13th before a loose spark plug brought a halt to the race.
|
How disappointing :(
I thought it was a thrill just seeing your name in the line up Mads! |
