Should be a good night with some of the toughest cars in the club all there together. I reckon there will be some 10 second passes, with a best of...

10.74 @ 126mph

Gav 10-21-2013 02:24 PM

I wonder who will be the first to break 11.5 and be told to go home!

Towmaster 10-22-2013 04:54 PM

Apparently Geoff Tauntons ((BDM) newly crowned 'Australias fastest black Cobra' is coming along as well.... He might well get kicked out if he can get traction...

damage 10-22-2013 04:58 PM

is 11.5 the new bye bye mark, it used to be 10.9

Gav 10-22-2013 05:00 PM

11.5 for convertibles

Credit where its due .......In this particular discipline "Drags" the class win at the Nats was 1st Grant Watson/3rd Mark Crespan with Geoff T sandwiched in the middle.

76 QLD GRANT WATSON M 5 COBRA 6 00:07.216 1st

1 QLD GEOFF TAUNTON M 7 COBRA 6 00:07.236 2nd

62 QLD MARK CRESPAN ? 5 COBRA 6 00:07.454 3rd

Certainly without contest making an impression on most.

I thought the car was a specialist hill climbing vehicle?

Anyway I was referring to the other thread on which a bit of bragging was done about hill climb records and stuff that not many of us do.... except at the Nationals... Did anyone check those results? Or the sprint results?

I think Geoff got him by 12 seconds on the hill climb and 4 seconds on the sprint laps..... Which just pips the .02 of a second in the drags...

To be fair the car did break.... twice.... And it was good for their team to come down and make the trip that we make every year. And yes it is expensive for everybody to do that trip. But well worth it in my opinion.

Kindling and a spark......

So according to their website, my understanding is that you can run up to 10.00sec, or slower if you have: 4 point harness & 4 point Roll bar (among other things).

Can some explain to me what the ruling would be if one had 2 x 3 point roll bars, as is the case with some Aussie cobras?

thx

Towmaster 10-22-2013 09:52 PM

So............ back to the drags. Who else is coming?????

BTW

I just spoke to Willowbank raceway and as long as we have a mimnimum drivers rollover hoop then we are ok as long as we dont go faster than 11.0. Same goes for the 4 point harness, not required unless we go faster than 11.0.

The roll cage must be as per ANDRA specs.

If you ran fast enough to require a parachute, wearing your buddies skydiving kit when you race wouldn't cut it either...
