Default Did anyone see the gold Cobra at Willowbank this weekend?

The gold Cobra with Western Aust reg was out at the Nationals drag race meeting with a 9.96 second dial-in written in his windscreen. Did he run a nine, or was he just being a little optimistic?

Thanks,
Craig

Default gold cobra

Hi craig, yes i saw the gold cobra on the weekend , it belongs to Rob Armstrong , originaly from redcliffe now doing work in Tom Price W.A . No 9.96 is not optimistic he ran 10.03 @139.92mph then against craig in the CRT HG sedan he ran a losing 10.01 134 mph, not bad for a iron head single carb stock rods and crank 350 cube 10 to 1 comp engine through the mufflers. p.s small NOS kit. lifting the pass side wheel 18inches and carrying it for 30ft looked good. needs some suspension mods to stop that so that it lifts both wheels and gets better forward momentum, hope to have that done by the 2nd feb willowbank meeting. that run against craig was a downer for me because one of my engines i built was going to be eliminated no matter who won , btw craig ran 9.3s to win that run 400 cu chev plenty of goodies and NOS. If you want to meet rob or see his car give me a yell , MICK.

Mick,
I've been away from the computer this week, but thanks for the reply. By the time I got there on Saturday, all the S/S eliminations were over. Why did Craig pull the big block out of the HG? Seems like a lot of hard work for no good reason... I suppose he'd still have the pipes/engine plate from when he had Chris H's old 430 cube s/b?

I wish I had seen Rob's car 18" off the deck... How does it handle after that? I noticed he had only a 26/10/15 slick, so there's probably room for more tyre if he needs it.

"PS, small NOS kit" Oh, like you almost forgot What's it run off the bottle? Anyway, what do you call small - a Big Shot? I'm not a big fan of Nitrous on the street, but whatever it takes to run the numbers at the track is fine by me.

I might see you both on Feb 2?

See you,
Craig

Rob - 10.9 @ 122 is awesome for that engine combo - in fact awesome for any Cobra!!! Good traction too - I've seen a lot of cars have to go over 125mph to get into the 10s. This can't be a cogger can it? I'm assuming you've got a PG or T350 trans?
Anyway, see you on Feb 2. I'll drop into Willowbank on the way home from the Toowoomba swap meet.

Craig.
