ive been following this car for a while in different places it's been advertised and just noticed its had a price drop .
its getting so close to my budget lol im almost tempted to enquire . just trying to fig out by the time I fly to qld too look at the car and transport it back to Adelaide pay rego transfer fee's ect ect it all adds up in cost .

it looks like a nice car anyone on here know more about it ? I see its used on the drb webpage as there feature car .

what to do what to do lol if only it was closer to me .

so the hunt still remains

Don't know about the rego and transferr fees but for an idea of what shipping cost would be I shipped my cobra door to door from the Gold Coast to Adelaide hills in a container for
$ 2750

you must be a mind reader lexluther I was just doing some research on costing's to get it down here if I was to go and purchase a car from qld . can I asked what company you used and were you happy with the service ?

Nice car... Certainly had big dollars spent on it.
IIRC a few years back it was for sale for over $100K.

If I understand it correctly, it comes with rego and plates...
Fly over, check it out, if you like it, drive it back!
Cost much less than $2750... and can even include some relaxing holiday time.

Worse case you get stranded and it makes for a great story and good adventure!

Company was U-load-it and I would use them again very organised
They will drop a container on the ground for loading, freight by train
Drop it on the ground to unload
Only draw back is you have to trust whoever loads it or do it yourself and you will need a bit of space for truck and container

wow just got quoted 3800 to bring it down in a pantec style truck . im either a tight arse or just out of touch on how much transport really cost . I would have thought a couple of grand would have been plenty ..if I had more time on my hands I would hook up the car trailer and do a road trip but that's not going to happen .

Like Dimis says forget about the trailer Deano, just drive it. I guarantee that it will be the most entertaining long drive you'll ever get, the time will fly. Get some premium road side assistance service membership just in case and I doubt you'll be bored or sleepy for a moment as all your senses are assaulted. :D

CEVA have a good reputation for enclosed interstate transport.

I just used Prixcar Transport for open transport. They were cheeeeeap, but if only the car I transported was a bit more weatherproof I would have been happier. Oops...
I'm pretty sure they do enclosed also, so it might be worth checking.

I get cheap airfares, you pay the actual cost and I will drive it :-)

You just need to be careful with CEVA, as they will use a local guy to transport from there depot to your house. I have heard some horror stories, and seen pictures.

You drive a Cobra at high speed just prior to pending catastrophic failures.
I've crashed a Cobra sideways through a light pole and barbed wire fence and over a bank (but only once!)

Good point Box. I've only ever shipped from depot to depot and I've always clarified that there would be no loading/unloading en route.

that pairing just fills me with confidence lol transport cost are sounding cheap to what the repair bill from this pair might come too lol :-)

I've driven that Cobra a couple of times, and it's a very special car.

The chap that owns it now doesn't get out in it much, and he's got other toys to keep him amused.

Graham and Lynn AKERS built this car through DRB in 2006, and spared no expense.

The current asking price is almost down to HALF of what it cost to make.

The best of everything.

This car would be a nice drive back to Adelaide...
Buy it and cover the fuel/motel/plane home....and I'll deliver it for you.

That's if Craig has any trouble getting time off !lol

There's some great suggestions there.
If I were you I'd drive it back. Fly there, get paperwork, insurances etc done in the morning, service it midday with DRB, pace or any trusted mechanic or spanner head you know and cruise back. Excellent tip from Legless to get premium roadside insurance too.

its just a long drive back in a unknown car im a mechanic myself but don't have anyone up there with a hoist ect . will ring a few transport places tomorrow and make talk with the owner more about price . I mean no good flying up if your offers not even in the ball park lol ..I have a son who lives just out of Brisbane I can toss him the keys to get it tooa transport yard if I decide to buy it . ive had a few people pm me with there cars for sale as well . its enough to make my head spin atm lol

I would be supprised that if you purchased it the current owner would not deliver to a Ceva depot for you.

For whats its worth, call the guy, have a chat, book a flight to have a look and a drive. Keep an open mind. take notes of all the things that you like and don't like and weigh it up from there.

I live QLD and purchased from SA. Spoke with the owner a few times, got a flight on a Sat morning, he picked me up at the airport and we were out 1/2 the day plus. Dropped back to the airport, and this gave me time to think. Total cost to me was 1 day of my time, flights on special for $215 return and airport parking (which I donated a kidney and a lung to cover costs). However the experience was worth more than this. Gave me time to evaluate things I noticed.

I had driven a number of cobras before, most I didn't like and most I felt like noddy with my eye level with the top of the screen. This was different, don't get me wrong, there were things which I wanted to change (and have done so with a do do list that seems to get bigger), however photos are only part of the story.

To me, my time and money spent to go have a look, were just that, to go and have a look. Don't go with the preconceived idea that you must buy it.

Anyway, I am sure you get what I m saying. Book a flight and go and have a look.

Gotta agree, the cost of a flight from major city to major city is the cheapest part of owning a Cobra.
