Here's a quote from the September edition of the Newcastle MG Club's newsletter.

that's the very reason I have no plans of putting my cobra on any sort of track when it's built you put to much into them to take a chance to damage them in my opinion . but I do have the benefit of racing our dirt circuit car to get the hoon out of my system lol

I don't understand the thinking of people who wont put their Cobra on the track, where YOU are in control of the car, but you will no doubt drive it on the road where you will be surrounded by morons who cannot drive and THEY are in control of what happens to your Cobra.

I get insurance paid out for starters if its get crashed on the road I get sweet f all if I put it into the Armco on the track . now you might have more money than me to fix yours if you bend it on the track .
secondly I don't enjoy racing on bitumen after 30 yrs of racing speedway on the clay and what ever and the last 3 yrs racing dirt circuit I would rather bend a 20 g dirt car than a 75 g cobra and I can rebuilt the dirt car myself considering I build the jigs the car was build off and the car itself ..
dirts for racing on bitumen is for getting there :-)

What's the point of building one with a V8 engine if you cant stretch it's legs every now and then in a legal, controlled and relatively safe environment.

The "Racing" we do is against the clock and not rubbing door handles as you cut through the inside and then shutting the door on him in the next corner. It's a sprint event, you go as fast as you feel comfortable.

I've only seen a couple of incidents when a car has been seriously damaged at the track. Most people just blow up engines or break gearboxes and diffs.

different horses for different courses I just want to have a nice car where me and the mrs can go for a nice pleasant drive up thru the Adelaide hills or down the beach on a nice evening . my hoon days on the road are long gone along with quite a few points off my license over the yrs :-) or if the mrs wants to pick up a friend and go out for coffee she can ..I did the track day thing when I owned my last skyline and to be honest they didn't do much for me always the thought in the back of the head I would put it into the Armco at Mallala .
as for blowing stuff up its hard enough to keep up with engines and diffs on the race car let alone busting stuff on a road car . not having a shot at those who build there cars and track them it's just not my thing

Personalities and preferences aside I give heaps of kudos to those that challenge themselves with this brand of motorsport. Flat stick, zero room for mistakes. Reflexes need to be A1 as well as car confidence and control.

Hats off to those that have a crack...and no doubts or denying Mark is very very good at it.

I went and had a look many years ago at Mt Cotton and watched several cars crunch under the tree overhang left hander in the back left corner and went....nah not for me... but good on those that get out there and have a crack and even moreso to those that are at the pointy end.

That's some great video. I love all the winged specials and the karts with big bike engines. Also partial to the Ford Escorts as they were a car I grew up with. I had a Mk 1 2 door and later a Mk 2 4 door.

I reckon I'd be a bit nervous in a big HP car on such a tight track with lots of things to hit. I'm happier at a place like Winton.
