I used on my Harrison a Goodyear GSD3 285 40 17. I can assure you that not all tyres are created equal. These measure out to nearly 300.
Plus, they were a little taller in the sidewall which really helped fill a guard. Running 245 45 17 in the front gave a little rake as well that looked in proportion.
The GSD3 was squeezed on a 10 but looks best with a 10.5 rim. This tyre had a AA A rating with tread wear of 180 for memory.
Do some google image searches to give an idea compared to others.
