Engineer recommendations

Hello

I'm looking into building a Cobra Kit in the neer future but I'm still undecided to build a between AP kit and the Factory Five Kit

In the mean time I'm looking for advice and recommendations regarding Engineers who can help me with My build as I reside in Landsborough Sunshine Coast Qld

I'm undecided if I should register the Cobra as a daily Driver or club rego, I'm still trying to understand the difference between the two and can someone
Tell what they are please.

Has anyone in Queensland been able to run live side pipes

Cheers and thanks to all

Darren

Hi Darren.

Sidepipe equipped cars have recently been approved in Queensland, so that seems to answer that question for everyone.

There is no option for club rego in Queensland for cars less than 30 years old. That is the only club rego option in Queensland, so you're definitely going to need full rego. This might change in the future.

As far as engineers, others will have their thoughts on who to use, but one observation I'd make is that of the two brands you're looking at, the Absolute Pace has recently been engineer approved in Queensland. I'm not sure that a FFR has yet been registered in Queensland.

Craig

WOW

That is good news about Active Side Pipes in Queensland I know it's been long over due as members have been trying for years to register with active side pipes.

I'm curious when did this happen and what Changed with adr to approve the side pipes?

Cheers. Darren

AP......would be my choice.....

Jasbel 12-14-2014 12:42 AM

Hey Rob

Thanks for the info I'll be in touch regards to your engineer, does he cater for a variety of Makes & Models of Cobra Kits or does he specialise in one particular manufacturer,

This is all new to me and would appreciate info I can get my hand on.

I'm sure I have read somewhere that Factory Five Kits have been registered in Queensland hey I could be wrong?

While I was on holidays last year in the US I accidentally walked into a Cobra Fest down the road where I was staying and all I could see was Factory Five
Cobra Cars everywhere some on trailers in mid build stages, must say the thou Americans really love there Cobras

I'll say they are a very nice car and the build quality is amazing, but since AP Cobras are closer to me than factory five component cars are I'll have to take a look but what I have seen and read about the ap cobra it's a very good kit as well

Cheers Darren

Wow, that will be three Cobras in Landsborough .... Muzza and myself also live here.
I know of another up at Maleny also.

Jasbel 12-14-2014 05:08 AM

Hey Towmaster

That really is good news knowing that there are some locals here that maybe able to assist me when the time comes when I get into trouble and I'm sure there will be plenty of that

May I call upon your experience and knowledge when the time comes with my build, would it be ok if I could PM you sometime if that's ok?

I Knew I had seen some beautiful Cobrs around this area I just assume you guys were from out of town.

I'm looking about 3 to 4 months away before I purchase a kit, biggest decision is deciding which kit.

I better join the Cobra Club

Cheers and Thankyou

Darren

Ps could I trouble you maybe to post some photos

Look out, they're multiplying!

Landsborough!

Isn't that Blue Ridge, Smoky Mountains, duelling banjos territory?

Craig do you really want your little babies heading up into them thar hills?

The ADR requirements for sidepipes changed in 2007 for MA category vehicles. Mercedes AMG G-wagon advertises its live side pipes as a performance feature and they're for sale in QLD, so it's a bit hard to knock them back on an ICV.
