Tyres are the only thing that connects the car to the ground.
I am a tight arse, but I will never scrimp on tyres.

Now whether he ships to the outpost of Western Australia, well that's another question entirely!

albanycobra 12-29-2014 12:33 AM

Doh , I was thinking Gordon Levy in the States...

albanycobra 12-30-2014 03:33 AM

Whats his prices like?

itempany 12-30-2014 04:09 AM

Stuckey Tyre Service has Cr6ZZ available
225/60R15 $450
245/60R15 $535
Bit more expensive than Mickey Thompsons..........

If "up in Cairns" means the temperatures are cooler, then that is even more cause to fit the Avons in my view. I'm in the UK, which isn't renowned for its high temperatures and the Avons work extremely well at cooler temperatures.

Paul

Hey Paul,
Do you recall the Robin Williams movie, 'Gooooooooood Morning Viiieeeetttnnnaaaammmmmmm'? Particularly his little speech about how hot and wet it was?
That is Cairns.......

Mate I will be back to Goodwood one day!

albanycobra 12-30-2014 04:35 PM

2k for a set Ouch , how does that compare from the States?

Not as expensive, till you add the shipping.
Then bang!!! Youll need to remortgage the house.

itempany 12-31-2014 01:30 AM

Longstone Classic Tyres UK
225/60R15 260 PoundUk
245/60R15 275 Pound Uk
.......Sorry couldn't find pound sterling symbol
By the time you convert to Aud and add shipping. Would be cheaper to purchase locally!

Ian

leroy17 12-31-2014 12:28 PM

Does not help that the AUD / GBP conversion is around the worst for the past 5 years. If the current trend continues, the next run of imports will (may) be more expensive depending on distributors margins.

albanycobra 12-31-2014 03:39 PM

What about our American Brothers? What are they paying for the same tyres (tires)??

itempany 12-31-2014 08:18 PM

Found some Usa pricing From Roger Kraus Racing in Ca for same size tyres....
225/60R15 $377us
245/60R15 $399 us
Don't know what shipping would cost though

Ian

leroy17 12-31-2014 10:13 PM

$399 USD will calculate to roughly $505+ AUD possible more depending on your credit card exchange rate used, let alone paypal. Add shipping and you are over the aus seller.

Current exchange rates are not overly enticing compared to recent times.

In the past I have paid $280 to have 4 tyres shipped with tire rack and another time was $315 for 6 tyres.

d488y2 12-31-2014 10:24 PM

Here's a quote from Stuckey Tyres
Avon CR6ZZ 295/50/15 $625 each
Avon CR6ZZ 245/60/15 $535 each

albanycobra 12-31-2014 11:20 PM

They are closer to sizes I'm looking for.....

I was hoping to find a used set for set up purposes but my guess is people will hold on to these since they are so expensive

itempany 01-01-2015 12:48 AM

Performance Plus California
Mickey Thompson ST's
235/60R15 $122
245/60R15 $131
295/50R15 $170
A lot cheaper than local but then comes down to shipping and the prices they charge. Plus with the exchange rate of late.......Will be cheaper to purchase locally.
So much cheaper to build and maintain a Ac Cobra in the states than here!

Ian

FatBoy 01-01-2015 12:48 AM

I've put "Billboard" style lettering on mine and I think they look almost as good as the Goodyears:

Happy New Year.

Paul

itempany 01-01-2015 12:54 AM

The Avons do look nice, but with the exchange rate a set will cost me about $1800 without including shipping.....

Ian
