Such is the stupidity...

Nitto have confirmed for me that

""the NT01's are only completely street legal in NT, WA and SA. They are deemed a competition tyre in NSW, VIC and QLD due to there being no traditional load rating printed on the sidewall.""

Insanity.

I'm buying R888's.

You reckon? I think they would be boring people in beige cardigans with elbow patches. Fond of stamp collecting and cruelty to animals.

Rims ordered and on their way. VINTAGE FA18 Pindrive.

And much to my surprise and despite my earlier post from DOT on spacers and adaptors...... it seems we can have pin drive wheels here. We do not have an ADR that specifically covers this(restricts this).

I believe the pin drives with adaptors are standard on some of the new cars we're seeing built and complianced. Happy Days:-)

Wheels arrived and installed. Looks a bit like Qld Rails Speed Train at the moment but should have tyres by weeks end.

Thats the money, will look awesome.

Amazing how certain wheels suit certain cars, and these my friend look right at home.

Sneak peak. Will get it back on its rubber on the weekend.

Awesome looking car, spooky

stiffy 12-10-2015 08:47 PM

Cool

Spook,

Nice wheels, they look very similar to the ones Colin's ran

On his Daytona.

What no hoist?

Stiffy

spookypt 12-10-2015 08:51 PM

Thanks Hoity. Its being used as a rather expensive surfboard bench at the moment so I'm keen to get it back on its feet and go for a blat.

spookypt 12-11-2015 01:39 AM

Stif the hoist has the cobra on it with gear box out and I'm now measuring up fitment and fabbing for the new box.

I've thought about a 4 poster as the sheds chockers but that'll only make me want to put something else in it!

Wheels and tire done!

Its been a long journey getting this to the end stage. After what seemed like months of measuring offsets and working out tire sizes and compatibility I ordered custom wheels, adaptors and lug nuts from Vintage Wheels.

2 months later they arrived...ALL 4 rims DAMAGED.

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=14575

Every box had been dropped and the packing wasn't great. So I then set out getting them all heated, rerolled, machined and polished and am now waiting for Bob to get insurance money from their shippers FEDEX (aka Fcukit transport).

Ive been reassured by Vintage they will pay me if FedEx don't pay them which is good news.

Anyway onto more positive outcomes this is the net result. (I can guarantee after adding in the repair costs these are the most expensive wheels I will ever buy!)

Started with this

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=13501

Wanted it like this (note Superformance run larger fronts 255/40 and HUGE 725mm tall tires Rear 295/45 18)

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/pict...ictureid=14087

And achieved this (In comparison to SF my front are 235/40 rears are 275/40 18 - rears approx 675mm tall)

nice job Spooky.. :)

I had a similar experience with wheels shipped by Fedex, all 4 well and truly trashed... returned them at the vendors cost and got a replacement set.

Cheers

Chris

Spook that looks unreal. They fill the wheel arch so much better, and pin drive wheels are just super cool.
Did you have Chris Neale fix the rims?

stephen low 12-14-2015 01:23 AM

Transport seems to be Vintage's Achilles heel.

Two chromed and one ceramic coated set of side pipes I first bought for myself and two others were all damaged as well.

Coated pipes were reworked here but the chrome jobbies went home and two pair of very well packed pipes returned.

Can't fault Vintage's work to correct the transport nuff nuff damage.

OMFG that looks awesome.

It was a seriously nice car before Spook, but geezuz, that just looks stunning, and so right.

Wheels make a car.... nice.

Hey Matt,
After talking to Ash Bright at the Nationals, I went and bought an Astra elec power steering pump for the Daytona. I understand from DSC that they used TD Cortina racks and as the rack sits in front of the wheels, there isnt many options and havent sourced as yet, a TF power rack

Do you have power steering on your car?

Theo

OH dear Theo you didn't fall for the ole Towmaster Commodore Cup track trash chat did you??

That's OK we've all been there! :D

No mate, my Dato does not have PS. My cobra does though. I believe some of the later DCS did but I think if you ran conventional you'd be back dual pulleys. As far as electric goes I'm not familiar with that set up at all but I'll have a look at mine over the weekend just for giggles and see.

The previous owner ran about a 20inch steering wheel so perhaps he felt the need for the power assist? I quite like the stiff feel. With the narrower front tyres its easier but not so much an issue for me.

If I find anything interesting I'll let you know.

Matt
