That shot is for real. If you think it's upside down, educate me as to where the sun sets "upwards" ?

Default Flight bucket list ideas

If I ever luck over a mountain of cash, learning to fly is also a bit of a passion I'd like to indulge.

Of course my grand plan is nothing simple as I'd really like to own one of these beauties below.

Have always had a passion for war birds and the P51 Mustang does it for me!!

The reality is I will own and fly one of these Mustangs in the future but it will be more to this scale.

As a radio controlled scale model.

This is a passion I will fulfill starting in the next handful of years!

Anyway, my hat's off to you Bernie both being able to indulge the real passion and get out there and learn to be able to do it for real!!

Keep those real aerial shots coming!

Cheers

Steve

ive always wanted to try rc planes but fear im not coordinated enough with the radio gear up to 4 or 5 yrs ago i was still flying control line mainly combat wings with 2 or 3 of cutting ribbons of each others planes .
maybe i will start with a 40 dollar toy radio control chopper to torment our dogs with lol .
i envy those who can fly rc i have a club not to far away and go down to watch every now and then some of those blokes just blow me away with there skill esp the guys with the jet engines . maybe i need a online sim or something to learn with .

Deano, if you are thinking of getting into RC check out this YouTube channel.
Flitetest

These guys do some great low buck, fun RC. Lots of scratch built stuff using cheap materials like sign board etc and a great attitude to the hobby.

I did model aircraft as a teen. Mainly Control line and free flight as I had no money for the expensive RC equipment in the 80's. It's so cheap and accessible now with lots of cool ready to fly foam models and Electric power.

Hobby king is a site I often check in on to see what's available these days.

Hobbyking

Cheers

Modelflight.com is where I have been buying. I fly the electrics in my back yard....getting attacked by the local birds is the best fun....

Whilst I still dream of owning a Cobra, I do indulge in my other passion of RC flying as well. With nearly 30 models of different descriptions in my man cave I guess I will never get to save enough for a Cobra whilst I am spending money on my models. So is my modelling a passion or an obsession ? I have a REAL pilot mate that I have directed towards a AP Skeleton and he is keen as mustard to go to the factory for a look see.

Congrats on the Skybolt acquisition Bernie. Looks like awesome fun. I too have long wanted to learn to fly. I got my wings for hang gliding about 20 years ago, but haven't kept it up over the years. Maybe in my semi-retiring years when I plan to move to the country...

Also, could be a good excuse for a club run - out to your airfield to watch some acrobatics!

Guys

Yes Lethbridge airport just out of Geelong.

But the aerobatic training area is 5 nom west. Bit far away.

But can organise a day at a closer airport - Lilydale..

Default Planes, trains and automobiles...well almost

Funny old world we live in ...5 degrees of separation and all that.

Was at a boat building mate's factory last week and talking to his off-sider who is building a 1930's something plane. However it was a comment in relation to a P51 picture in the factory that set the wheels a whirring.

Seems I've a Mustang build option if I feel the urge as per the link:

Titan Aircraft - T-51D Mustang

So replica Cobra and replica Mustang....hmmmmm

Just need to become effluent to afford all this!! ..... lol

I remember years ago seeing a 3/4 scale P51 replica that was running Big block chev power. I think Rod Hadfield was involved with supplying an aluminum block for them with the full aero conversion (i.e twin plug heads etc). I thought it was an Australian built kit but I haven't been able to find it again. It was at a wings and wheels show at Ballarat air field. It sounded magic flying over with BB chev wailing through open pipes.

I'm not normally a spelling or grammar nazzi but I couldn't help but laugh at your last statement Slowy.

"Just need to become effluent to afford all this!! ..... lol"

It that the NZ spelling of "affluent" or do you mean rich as sh!t

I'll keep looking for that Aussie P51 replica info.

Cheers

Rod Hadfield was heavily involved in producing a big block and reduction gear for crop dusters but I believe it al became too hard due to all the beuracratic red tape and what not !!

That P-51 replica is owned by one of Leeroy's fathers mates.
I remember him telling me about it.
