Very cool. Like the vintage aircraft style gauges.

Cheers

I am not going to say I like it until I see more pics of that black and white awesomeness.

Actually, I am going to say I like it and it looks well done and suits for the rest of the trim that I can see. Is the dash covered in alcantara, if so it looks real cool with the stitching as well.

Yep, the Alcantara is an animal related to a Lama or Alpacca. It lives only on the southern slopes of the Himalayas above 4000M.

Alcantara hunters must stalk their prey for days in freezing conditions. Traditional land owners dictate that the animal can only be hunted with Bow and Arrow so the leather fetches a premium price. Hence it's only used on premium cars like Lamborghini and Mercedes AMG etc.

note... I may have made some of that stuff up

Seems there are different definitions. Maybe it's like a mythical snipe

"Alcantara is a tradename given to a composite material used to cover surfaces and forms in a variety of applications. It can be described as an artificial substitute for suede leather."

Nice mix of old and new on the dash.
Mike, I choose to believe your version of where Alcantara comes from, and it makes me want it!

Motorfest is now closed for entries, but I think I'll go out for a look. RACQ - RACQ MotorFest 2015

Tell us Uncle Mike about the day you captured all those Vinyls single handed and used the pelts for the EH front seat retrim.

Got to be careful with vinyls. Yes they are the most common of our pelt animals and these days they are domesticated and farmed commercially. Many a careless vinyl farmer has been killed in a vinyl stampede though. I hear this can happen when they get spooked. You get a few PVCs sneaking in with the herd pretending to be vinyls and stirring them up with their squeaking and carrying on.

Then of course you've got your marine vinyls. Nearly wiped out by over fishing now.

Given the price I'm going with the Himalayan story Mike.

Will be sure to mention to the wife who recently stumbled into a draw full of cobra receipts....

You know I did get caught in the fancy name one time. I think it was a Mercedes.

But I think it does come from snipes though. But only the three horned ones in Australia. Very rare indeed.
