Yes it does. The vehicle I was initially towing it with was an SS Commodore wagon (Pontiac G8 for you Americans) and the flat face of the trailer helped to a 25 litres per 100klm fuel consumption...... I put the bubble on it and dropped that figure by 5 litres per 100klm. Well worth the effort!

i often wondered how good those bubbles worked and thought about putting one on my new trailer im building . in the end i made the front section slope down at the top and the side goes in towards each other .

i made the top slope down its the same height as my canopy on the ranger and the sides come in to the same width as the ranger im hoping it will have the same effect as the bubble time will tell i guess anything under 20 lt to the 100 ks i will be happy with ..

Yeah mine got the nick name 'block of flats' pretty quickly when we did a road trip to Winton. The 70 litre fuel tank in the SS made a touring range of about 250 kilometres...... handy on a 1700 klm trip.....

Hi Towmaster

$2600 to repair the gearbox. OUCH. That's why my 1990ish F150 (4WD) is staying in the paddock. I'll wait until someone wraps one around a big tree or one comes up at a salvage auction at the right price.
Thanks for the info. about the differences between the Brazilian and US 5 speeds.

Cheers
Dave

Have done a rough fuel economy calculation with the trailer (3,000kg) and about 500kg ish in the tray I am getting between 17-18 litres per 100k on the trip from Brisbane down to Goulburn for the Nationals. Not bad for 6 ton ish...

That's good. My rig, VF SS-V with 450kg ali trailer, 1050kgs Cobra and at least 300kgs of crap in the car, did 18L/100

Ash, as a comparison the best I got over a 700k stretch from Inverell to somewhere passed Newcastle was 19 ltrs to the 100. Probably about the same weight overall. On the more hilly stretches it pushed up to 22/23 but I was pretty happy with my 19l average.

I drove from Newcastle via Inverell on Monday. Left Newy at 6.30 am and after dropping Darryl off got home at 9pm on the Sunny Coast. That's equal to Sunny Coast to Goulburn direct via Pacific Hwy. (I don't plan on going that way again!) GOAT TRACK and LOTS of roos!
