Dyno goes horribly wrong: Mustang explodes tire on dyno
Amazing in the slow motion watching the tire delaminate. Im not sure the new tires on the stangs are rated to 150mph???

Wow! There was a lot of damage to the Mustang. It looked like the fuel filler line was impacted, but wasn't severed. That could have been much worse if the fuel tank ignited.
Amazingly, it was at the moment of negative acceleration when it blew. I imagine it was the shift in torque that ripped it apart.

i saw many yrs ago at a burnout comp a bloke with a xb falcon with a blower on it , i have no idea why he entered as the car was airbrushed from bumper to bumper with murals this car was a trailer queen for car shows .
same thing happened a tyre let go and ripped off the rear 1/4 panel and the boot lid back window and creased the roof . he got out of the car and started demanding who was going to pay for the damage to his car even after been shown the waiver he signed on entry didnt calm him down he was in a total rage to the point the coppers had to remove him from the premisses . i last heard he was seeing a lawyer but i know nothing ever come of it ,,was one of a hell of burnout that boot lid must have gone 50 ft in the air was lucky no one got hit by the debris ..

Chassis dyno rollers are hard on tires and they aren't supposed to be ran on them that long. They are supposed to run them up to maximum RPM to get the rear wheel horsepower and then back off, all of which only takes a very short time.

I think he was in it for a LONG time... Watching an listening to it I figured something had to give.  M/T does not warranty tires from dyno's.

Staying on it for that long was insane. It was just a matter of whether the tyre or the dyno lunched itself first...

The torque had already gone double dynamic just prior to the blow out. Once it started counter rotating the hand writing was on the linoleum. The double acting, sliding Johnson valve was the straw that broke the camel's back and this guy's rear quarter. It is a good thing there were no inter-dimensional goings on with trans-dimensional beings at the same time!
As W.C. Fields once said, "A fool is easily separated from his money." It would appear a fool's tire may also be easily separated from it's rim ...

Forget the tire--what genius put the dyno controller that close to the rear of the dyno, and didn't prohibit the crowd access to all sides of the car while being run up??? Lucky nobody was killed by shrapnel.

Not too familiar with dyno set ups but there seemed to be a lot of weight in those tyres . Look at the bulge in the sidewall. thats a lot of stress in the spinning rubber.
I always thought the wheel was supposed to be sitting higher on the roller.

Looks like the shift in forces on deceleration started a different oscillation, the rear of the tire was ripped away from the bead.
What a lousy Dyno operator. Way to long in getting up to speed in 4th and much too long getting to redline. This tire was getting Hot as a result.

I agree - it was not setup very well. Lucky no one was injured or killed.
