CSX4048 info required

Looking for any info on Cobra CSX4048 for sale on gumtree. I have spoke to vehicle standards in SA to see if this can be put on Left Hand club rego. I have been told the Cobra was imported in 1990 and has been registered in NSW. All paperwork shows it registered as a 1965 vehicle .Anyone know of any history ?

Thanks to all for the info, I contacted the salesman and he assured me it was a 1965 chassis vehicle, the deception continues. Just glad I,m not the current owner.
Cheers

I reckon if the current owner sells it for what he's chasing (Sell - cost = profit) you'd be VERY keen to be him!!!! Pllllllllllllllllllenty of margin.

One of the previous owners must have had a time machine to import it in 1990 as it wasn't built until 1997.

Probably Australia's most colorful and controversial Cobra.

To quote Monty Python.. "Run away!, Run away!"

Cheers

You are such a sceptic Mike...
Duh....
It OBVIOUSLY includes a "Flux Capacitor" at the price they were quoting...lol

spookypt 01-26-2016 11:47 PM

No longer comes with the "genuine"" Shelby signed glove compartment as they never recovered that but a bit of a squiggly digly with a silver texta and it'll be like genuine again.

Agree with Mike...Australia's most infamous for sure...

spookypt 01-26-2016 11:52 PM

Would you say a bit of a misrepresentation. 1965. Whatever the case, play on words perhaps, buyer beware.

COBRA, AC for sale from Kingsgrove Prestige

Yep, genuine 1965 half aluminium half fibreglass Cobra.

As others have posted, a very colorful history with this one.

Wazza 01-27-2016 12:36 AM

I've dropped a line to the dealer..he may be a victim here as well....thought I'd give him a "heads up"....what he does is his business now.
Cheers,
Warren

This car is the gift that keeps giving!

Thanks for the entertaining responses, hell of a story. I knew I had joined the right forum when quotes from Monty Python show up, thanks Mike.

I thought the glove box cover AND dash plaque were missing?
Last I heard, Shelby won't make replacement dash plaques and are pretty firm on that for obvious reasons.
I was sure that car would turn up across the water in some place unknown...

AUSTRALIA. Unknown??????

Cripes mate that's a bit rich!

Bernica 01-27-2016 03:18 PM

So $250k AUS is around $175k US...
I would rather have Vern's (TheTurd here) car. Even with shipping, it would be cheaper and a much less dramatic history.

Easy there Donunder! I meant across the water from YOU!!
I figured it would end up in a container ship and be on it's way to parts unknown! As you say Cripes!

Bernica 01-27-2016 03:32 PM

I figured that since it was such a notable and visible car that when it was originally stolen it would have been shipped out of AUS to somewhere else. Sorry if I didn't communicate that so well. I did in the original post when the car was originally stolen.
