I think some wheels must have been bent in these jumps as well.
Cheers

I wouldn't get to concerned they made nearly 100,000 chargers in 1968, i know its a 69 charger, i think in the total run of the show they only destroyed about 300.

Gav

As an earlier post indicated, given the shock damage to the metal in your rims, one would expect there to be some localised stresses having been induced.

I'm not an engineer but I'd have thought that any reworking of the rims back to profile is not likely to change the fact that the metal has been stressed at points.

On this basis I would assume there is then some level of risk of failure. This might need an external influence but can you be sure of this?

I am looking at replacement rims myself and realise they aren't cheap but if my assumptions above are even half right, how would you weigh up this risk of reusing the rims?

More than happy to be corrected by someone with detailed metallurgical training if my assessment is wrong, as we will then all learn something, but I'm sure you want to continue to stay safe mate!

It is good though to see you back up and about and on the forum mate.

Keep at it!

Steve

I would be expecting that the bands will require replacement.
The centers will be fine.
Rims are repaired all the time, they can be checked by X-ray for cracks if if you where concerned.

Fair enough Gav.

My current rims are ok but not great quality hence why I'm looking to buy new replacement jobbies.

Alloy wheels can be repaired. I doubt it can be done in Australia. The process requires the rim to be heated to 800 degrees for six hours to relieve the stress and return it to a T3 temper.
