Default Triumph TR3 boot (trunk) hinge - seeking spare For Arntz.

Seeking a Triumph TR3 boot hinge for my Arntz.

The hinge is a die cast alloy and I have a crack in it which goes about 80% through. My understand is that die cast can't be welded, and this was confirmed with a few shops advising same.

I know I can get a brand new set, but was hoping to find an existing 'aged' one that is seeking a new home.

Cheers.

Just a thought, but maybe offer to buy new ones for someone restoring one (find a facebook group for them) and keep there old ones?

I put those hinges on my RMC and they appear to have acquired the patina quite quickly.

I expect it is the nature the quality parts now available...

the pins holding the two mounting parts died so they now have a small bolt each through them
for added patina

MOSS MOTORS

They will have them in stock, and they do ship world wide.

Buy a pair (they are cheap enough), replace them both, and use the originals as spares.

Pot metal can be welded .. I've welded a lot of xc falcon door handles with oxy acet.
You just need the right filler rod and a bit of patience.

Bill I think they're about $50 USD from Moss and then $80 USD postage to Australia. $130 USD equates to about $145 AUD, which is more favourable than it has been for some time, although where that conversion rate will end up in the wake of Brexit, who knows? Either way it's a lot to pay for a pair of trunk hinges.

Thanks again gents, but my qld mate as above , renovation rob, has me covered for a bottle of scotch.

Whilst originally I was seeking an aged one with some patina, a new set will suit the bill perfect.

Thanks again to all.
