Default Dreaming big. First AC advice needed

Hi, I am a newbie to the world of Cobra's and live in South Australia and like most people have done a bit of scouting around to see whats available for sale in kit form and second hand. I am open to a lot of advice so please feel free to steer me in the right direction. My wish list is this. Colour Indigo Blue with white stripes, dual polished rollbar hoops, beige leather, fully show detailed 427cui or as close to as possible with approx 500hp (any brand but prefer Chev), auto sequential trans with paddle shift, DB Le mans hardtop roof with gulwing lifting top for ease of entry and exit, 17" billet polished wheels, cruise control, heaters (demisters) and air con, polished side pipes (non active), under body exhaust system (hidden tail pipes) and adjustable suspension. I have a budget topping out at around $120k. I don't plan tracking the car so race performance isn't essential so I am happy to spend more on bling to make it a real show piece that's a little bit different. I have had a look at the Absolute Pace site and like whats on offer but I don't know if a hardtop would be an option with them. DAX would be a good option if there are any suitable ones out there but my guess is I will be struggling to find something that ticks most of my boxes. What direction should I be heading???

We can tick all the boxes
( Including a ground breaking and very exiting Le Mans hard top under development)

One thing I forgot to mention is, I am a little time poor with business commitments but I do have a comprehensive workshop so if I were to go down the path of building then it would need to be a pretty straight forward assembly type project without having to deal with self modifications etc... That then makes me half interested in buying a good second hand unit so I can send it somewhere for a rebuild and mods to be done. I guess at the end of it all, I would like to have a personalised vehicle that I will be content with for many years to come and not wish that I would have done it properly the first time. Has anyone had experience with G-Force vehicles from WA? These are another on my radar.

This is one of the big reasons i went with AP. I have no interest in scouring the scrap yards, and i'm no expert builder.

That's what I love about them. They give the car almost a hotrod look from a rear view with the right wheels and then you could nearly mistake them (from a distance) for a Ferrari GTO250.

I have had a serious look at that WA 07 with the Hardtop and unfortunately it would open a massive can of worms. The SA dept of transport checked it out for me and the roadworthy mods for a start would cost me $10k-$20k before I even start personalising it!...otherwise it may have been a good starting option at the right price.

Hi 14Adrnln (sorry, I have no idea what your name is),

I'm an automotive spray painter, not a mechanic. I have Pace #7 and I built my car without any formal mechanical training (had never changed a clutch, fitted an engine or fitted brake lines before for example) but had a love of tinkering (obsessed with building Lego as a kid - I think that's why I enjoyed building my Pace!).

Admittedly I was a pioneer in building my car as the (V4) build manual was/is still evolving and while comprehensive, there are still a number of missing or 'TBC' sections (version 5 of the manual remains in development and from the limited extracts I have seen is a lot more thorough/comprehensive). That said, Pace were very helpful with info. Other owner builders are always available to answer questions as we have 'been there, done that'. Besides, a large part of the build is logical anyways.

The FANTASTIC thing about Pace is that they are continually developing/evolving the car including sending out new and improved parts, plus little extras not included in the original parts list for free to all existing owners!

I enjoyed the build experience so much that my next kit car will be a Pace GT40! Call me a Fanboy if you must, but I am convinced that the AP 427SC is currently the best replica AC Cobra out there - on all counts. You can't go wrong with a Pace.

Any questions, just shoot me a PM.

Cheers,
Sime

Can I take a guess?

They fit....

Without mods - now that would be ground breaking.

I did see a Mr Bruce top in one of the AP pics, so Im assuming they have taken it and made it their own. Id like to hear more Waz.

Hi Scott,

if you are interested we actually have a rolling chassis/body ready to go in the workshop at the moment, that is set up for a 427W - The motor is at the machine shop ready to pick up and is a full forged bottom end & piston set up - No heads allocated yet.

Contact me if you want to have a look at some stage.

Cheers
Wil
