Default Steering Options

Hi Guys,

I have a detype cobra that uses a shortened manual VK steering rack. Im making some modifications to the suspension and was wondering if any body has upgraded their VK racks to something newer possibly with variable steering ratio. I don't mind manual or power steering, just want to see what kind of options are out there that would suit.

Thanks

I'm just having a rack shortened now. The vc to vh was the only rack easy to cut down because of the metal tube. Mine had a variable ratio VL rack and they said they can't modify it because the tube is ali and you can't get parts for it.

I thought guys might have updated to small car racks. Few guys getting around with Honda Jazz, Corsa/Barina. Even if you got an American model front steer rack and flip it 180 would make it a RHS rear steer.

Flaming River also another option.

That would make things interesting. Turn the steering wheel to the right, and you turn left.

You are such a wag JD........

Speaking of wonky steering, I think I recall seeing a hovercraft in your shed or is my memory wrong??

I did only visit the once so I'll claim something mental if I am wrong.

Cheers

A wag? Please explain. Are you saying that if you turn your rack upside down it will still steer correctly?
And yes I do have a hovercraft. I actually started it the otherday. I'll be moving to the river, so I hope to finish that project once and for all.

If you flip it over it would. Just all the mounts would obviously have to change, but rotating the wheel would have the same effect on which way the rack ends move.

If the pinion is on top of the rack and you rotate it clockwise the rack will move to the left. If the pinion is under the rack and you rotate it clockwise the rack will move to the right. That's my apinion. Pardon the pun.

that was my theory behind using an American rack and flipping.

I really thought someone would have upgraded their VK rack to something newer.
