Exporting car(s) from Australia to the US
Ok folks,
I've got a client here in the US looking for a 1972-1976 Falcon XB GT, or XA coupe, or even a 78 Falcon GT. Anyone have anything like this listed in the local newspapers...If so, how about some prices and descriptions......Thanks in advance for your assistance.......... Yours In Fords, Bill S. |
Genuine XA & XB GTs are getting up in price. I kick myself when I see it. I nearly bought a clean XB GT about 12 years back for $7K and now they are going for at least twice that.
Check out some of the Aussie car trader sites and you will find a few. Carpoint Here is a search I did, I hope it comes out. Carpoint Falcon search Craig (750HP) is a bit of a Falcon nut with a 460 powered monster. He migh know of some good ones for sale. Cheers |
Thanks.
Bill S. |
One thing I will say is be careful to make sure it's the real thing. There are an aweful lot of GT replicas down here and you can easily buy all the repro stuff to turn your XB Fairmont into a GT.
Cheers |
Bill:
How much they looking to spend? :) For the right price you may be able to find one in the US... I've seen a few in Jersey. -steve in nj- |
Steve,
I've seen all 8 of the RHD cars that reside in NJ...Not one of them is right for my client........... Bill S. |
Bill,
Just checking the Thread :3DSMILE: I am currently building my second Cobra at McDonald Bros. Racing Melbourne Australia. I have know these guys for over 30 years and they have built two street rods for me as well. So what I am saying is they are pretty honest guys who may be worthy of a contact. %/ They have a genuine GT XA there at the moment ( not for sale). But they do have others coming and going XW, XY, XA and the ocassional Cobra Coupe. Another name is Daryl Madex who is the owner of DTM Transmissions in Geelong Victoria. He is a wheeler and dealer in GT Fords. Again I know him well and he will not fuc#* you about. Daryl is also the guy who kicked off the All Ford Day. Daryl is the Aussie version of the SACC and he has a register that is accurate and is well worth bouncing car details across prior to purchasing. Cheers :3DSMILE: Bernie Bernie Knight Mt. Gambier South Australia. If interested email me on kni-time@bigpond and I will pass on some personal details to you for all of the above. |
Bernie,
Thanks again, tried to just email you, but it bounced. With the onslaught of Virus filled emails today, I would not be surprised if the mail servers on my end are shutting down for a while. I've gotten 103 virus filled emails so far this morning, both on my public, and private accounts............... Bill S. |
Bill,
I am currently in Melbourne and will phone home to see whats happening there. kni-time@bigpond.com Will be back next week. In the interim I will check when at McDonald Bros. Racing tomorrow re any they know of. Am not 100% sure but I think McDonald Bros. Racing is. www.mcdonaldbrothersracing.com or %/ try www.mcdonaldbrosracing.com. Just play with it and you may pick them up.. They have a pretty good group of Cobra photos on their site also. Cheers :3DSMILE: Bernie Bernie Knight Mt. Gambier South Australia |
Bill,
Try Mark Van Der Togt at mtsheet@tpg.com.au The vice president of the GT owners club of Queensland might have some leads for you. If they know of any good ones in Brisbane (capital of Queensland), I can take all the digital photos that your email address can handle. I'll cheerfully steer clear of any paperwork required, but I can give you a hand with transport to the shipping docks if you buy from Queensland - either driving or trailering. Let me know if I can help. It's an over-simplification, but some regional Queensland cars are regarded the same way that Arizona / Texas cars are regarded over there -- high average temps, very little rain, never snow etc. Falcon GT coupes do have a couple of body sections that are more prone to rust than their sedan counterparts, but it's easy to see if they've been repaired or replaced. |
Craig
Just take the empty XXXX cans out of it and the guns out of the glovebox. %/ They may not appreciate them over there. :3DSMILE: I pretty sure that we can get these guys some good leads on quality cars. May do some swaps for good Pony cars  What about UniqueCars  do you see any in there. I noticed there are a few GT's that are surfacing in Australia as exports from South Africa. There are two in there now. Who knows there history. Todd my son just told me that Daryl Madex has contacts at Ford for full verification on all GT's. %/ worth looking into. Rare spares or one of those companies have all the patch panels. Todd just mentioned there is a big GT Ford shop in Keilor in Melbourne. Perhaps someone may Post their details. I will email all of the GT contacts from the back of 'Just World Cars' also across to them on Monday when I get back home. Cheers Bernie Bernie Knight Mt. Gambier South Australia. |
That big GT shop is about 10 minutes drive from my house. I've been in there a few times and it's a cool shop. They used to restore GTs but now they just seem to deal in parts. I remeber seeing a nice XW or XY in there for sale. The shop is actually in Niddrie, the next subburb over from Keilor. They have a web page here: Ford GT Performance . Unfortunately I don't know enough about GTs to pick a real one from a mock up. But like Craig if you need digital pics of any Melbourne cars let me know.
Cheers |
Hi again,
There is certainly a number of options and directions to go. Guess will just pass them on and see what happens from here. As I said, I will Email all the addreses and names on Monday so it will be a good start. Cheers :3DSMILE: Bernie Knight Bernie Knight Mt. Gambier South Australia. |

mrmustang,
I stumbled on this site several months ago while doing a search for the GT Interceptor that they used in the movie "The Wraith". Anyway, these guys specialize in just the types of cars you mentioned at the beginning of this thread. Check it out. I think you'll like it. They're based out of Portland, Oregon. http://www.aussiecoupes.com/ Bill |
Bill V,
If you are interested in buying a Wraith I can help. Send me a private email. -dan fyi- your account is not setup to receive email from other cc users. |
Bill
My only comment about the early Falcon on the 100 site is that it is quite expensive. Whilst I know it has a history and all it is very highly priced at $22,000+ A very good example here (sure a run of the mill family car without histrory) would be a $4500Aus dollars or a price point or $3000US approximately. I recently spotted an outstanding XM sedan for $4,000Aus. Again, the early Ford Falcon Club guys would help in sourcing this type of car out. Don't get me wrong I know 'Aussie Imports' are making a living from this and have expenses. Cheers Bernie Bernie Knight Mt. Gambier South Australia. |
Super-Snake,
Actually, I was just trying to find out what platform the Wraith car was based on at the time, but I certainly appreciate the offer. Bill |
Forgive my ignorance but I thought I knew a fair bit about Aussie cars, but I have never heard of a Wraith.
Can someone put a pic up? |
