Actually a 3" U shaped bend like that might work for the collector area. Cut the section out of the top of the U and slot the flat oval tube into it. Could look pretty tidy and need a lot less hammering.

Cheers

Hi Mike,

Good to see you and Bill over at McDonald's Racing on Saturday.

:3DSMILE:

Have made a bit of progress after you left we worked back late.

Finished the alterations to the body to clear the exhaust at exit point. Also fitted the doors and drilled and trial placed latches. They will be finished next Wednesday.

The loom goes in also and I will put the dash in and bolt the seats and harnesses in Wednesday.

Whoa :3DSMILE: a drive.

Guess it is tune up time and an alignment.

You may recall the stainless tank I have what do the aluminium tanks look like?

Talk soon :3DSMILE:

Jeez - you help a guy try to visualise what all those pipes will look like, and they give you a hard time.....%/ :3DSMILE:

Good one Mike - only a true fabricator such as yourself could see potential amid the mayhem of my photo. Thinking about it, the 3" U piece would flow nicely to each throttle body....

There was a clubman racer at Speed on Tweed today with a Holden 6 with zoomies through the bonnet. It sounded a bit like a small plane - it actually sounded pretty good. I might refrain from doing it to my own car though!

Aussie Mike 09-21-2003 04:32 PM

You don't need Zoomies Craig. Your car already sounds like a Top Alcohol funny car. :D

Cheers

Not enough time to chrome.
I'm thinking a quick spray of red mica would do the trick for now.

photo of the temp air filter.

again, I've run out of time to hook up a cold air intake to the scoop.
I'll have to work on that after the Nats.

Rebel1 09-26-2003 03:43 AM

Heyyyyy Jason, that looks almost professional..actually, it looks blu$$y great.

Pleased ya got rid of the sewage pipe. Those half/full flush buttons are not a good look on a cobra dash. :D

ac andy 09-26-2003 05:25 AM

Nice work Jase, can you come and re-plumb my toilet!

Andy.

Aussie Mike 09-26-2003 05:53 AM

That's excellent Jason. It looks really good. It'll be interesting to see how it performs. The smooth interoir of the steel tubes should flow better than the corrugated pipe you had before. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Cheers

No worries Andy,
but after seeing some of the SH!T you come out with I'll need to do it in 5 inch mandrel not 3.

Stainless or mild???:)

REPTYL 09-26-2003 08:37 PM

Aussie Mike

I know how you love a technical challenge mate, so here it is.

My throttle bodies are rated at 420 and 380 cfm.
The front of the intake is 5 inches in diameter.

I'm guessing it only draws in 800 cubic feet a minute under full throttle (or does it?)

The question is:
How fast would I have to be traveling at W.O.T before the engine is being fed air and not sucking for it?

ac andy 09-27-2003 05:07 PM

Stainless would match my toilet roll holder better thanks!

Andy.

OZVENOM 09-30-2003 05:09 AM

positive pressure

1 Attachment(s)
Hi Jason well depending on the frontal area of your intake you can get 1 psi positive pressure at 100 mph aprox but i think you need a bigger frontal area .
sort of like putting craigs bonnet on backwards.

though i personal believe that the best positive pressure is abig turbo or 2.:3DSMILE:

And also you did a great job on that pipe work it looks great .

750hp 09-30-2003 06:36 AM

Nice pipework, Jason! All that dunny piping had me worried, but you came through with a quality solution - and a unique look for your engine bay. Never mind borrowing my bonnet for extra airflow, I'd leave the bonnet off and let everyone see your pipes!

Scott, is that pipe out the back for an external wastegate?

Aussie Mike 09-30-2003 05:10 PM

Scott, That thing looks like a fire pump, What is it and more importantly what are you going to bolt it to?

Cheers

BMK 10-01-2003 02:08 AM

Hi all, :3DSMILE:

**) on the road but turned back home.

Jason, sent you some photos of the finished car - in gel coat. Yes I left for Wakefield Park Raceway but headed back drenched. Its pouring here. Pouring all the way to Melbourne.

Can you put the photos onto my site?.. Or how do I do it. I cannot see how in this forum ??

Cheers :3DSMILE:
