Default Registration - anyone considered "Club Reg"?

For the annual mileage of most Cobras, I wonder if some of us would be better off registering our cars under a Club Registration, similar to the hot rod guys?

The $600 registration saving could go towards a new pair of rear tyres each year

Has anyone considered pursuing this?

It's basically a restricted mileage registration that cost under $200, compared to the $800ish that a V8 currently cost in Qld. Here are a couple of short descriptions of the Hot Rod and Vintage Concessional rego deals (in Queensland).

Because of the driving restrictions placed on the car as a result of the cheaper rego, it might not suit a lot of guys. I have an XY Ford on the Historic rego, and it's nice to know that I don't have to pay top dollar for my rego on it when I only drive it once or twice a month.

Hi guys,

The green Cobra at McDonald Bros. Racing in Melbourne where my car is has SR registration.

This is Special Registration and has the prefix SR on the number plates.

It is restrictive and you will see a number of Street Rods in Australian Street Rodding carrying these Victorian plates.

Some think the SR stands for Street Rod but it is fact Special Registration and is available to all comers.

Lindsay at McDonald Bros. Racing can tell anyone in Victoria who may be interested about the process and any restrictions.

The representive for VICROADS IN Victoria is Con Manzaris a Street Rodder who looks after the testing and issue of plates. As I said it is not restricted to Street Rods only.

Have also seen the CH plates Classic Historical. They apparently work the same way with similiar restrictions and requirments.

Is the savings worth the hassle.

If you can only use the Cobra on certain days and listed/sanctioned club events.

How can you take me for joys rides around the Gold Coast

Cheers

Bernie
