Default Electrical Solution???

What do you guys recken to my possible electrical fix it.

Remember, no start unless you leave the car in the QLD sun.

Cobra suffers from severe voltage drop off if car left stood over night.

Solution:

Run a wire direct from the battery to the coil including relay ensuring 12v at the coil.

Work or no work?

Thanks Brian,

Definite response - at least I now know it won't work.

It's in with an Auto Electrician right at this moment trying to replicate the starting problem.

Hardest problem for anyone who didn't build the car is understanding the individual wiring that these cars have.

We'll get there in the end

The car was in with the electrical guy for 3 days trying to replicate the cold start problem. The b****h, she started every morning.

The latest folly of an idea is that the bonnet was left up all the time and that is why it started???? I'll grasp anything at the moment.

May be with the bonnet down, the engine bay is sweating.....hardly think so with the size of scoop it has.

Anyway, the car is now tucked up in bed with its bonnet up ready to fire first time tomorrow.

We shall see....

PS Craig, picking up a new car tomorrow, an Echo - Good on fuel compared with the Cobra and cruiser.

Bringing an old thread up to the front.

Spoke with Paul Geary Automotive today (has a huge Pontiac Saloon racing car - Craig, the tyres look as though the've just come off a mining site) and he has traced my cold start issue back to an earthing problem.

Out of 48 circuits 7 are reading way to high on the computer. Also have a fuel surge problem which is drowning the plugs thereby sit on the drive and let the QLD sun do the work.

The hard job is tracing the wires back through a jungle of wires.

Pete - I hate wiring with a passion. I'm happy to know absolutely nothing about it. If I have a problem, I'll go straight back to the guy that wired the car, then it becomes his problem... I hope your wires are colour coordinated.

What does Gary think is causing the fuel surge problem? Do you notice the car not running smoothly when the engine's running? It looked fine when I was following behind you...

Regarding tyres - this is about as much rubber as I've seen on a street driven Cobra...

Pete...Good to hear you have a handle on that electrical problem.

I can understand you find electrics to be mysterious, given that you are from homeland of modern electronics... namely Lucas....the prince of darkness...the fella who promoted positive earth systems and invented the short circuit.

You know what they say....if Lucas made ammunition, there would be no wars.

I'm with you and Craig tho....all I know about the stuff is that it's all got to do with smoke....If ya wiring smokes..the electricity gets out and........
