Reptyl has some similar highback fiberglas race seats in his Cobra. His are Cobra brand and actually look OK. I looked at using Sparco or similar and painting the fiberglass shell the same colour as the bodywork.

I'm now experimenting with an aluminium race seat.

Cheers

Now what happened to keeping it authentic looking ??

Seats are a pretty visible part of the car.

I got my seats made direct by SAAS (uncovered) and they were very helpful and price wasn't too bad either. I had to weld mounts&plates etc. to the runners to bolt to chassis but make sure you consider runners etc. for the overall height as for some of you big guys it could mean you are seated too high.

The shoulder support in the racing seats generally fouls on the top lip of the doors. I have a brand new Sparco seat that I bought for the Cobra, but couldn't bring myself to carve a section out of the top of the door.

Scott wasn't so shy though, and his car has proper racing seats with a notch in the doors.

I tried to fit some SAAS seats that we sell at work and they where too wide at the base.

I think I will get low back seats with a headrest, similar to the ones used bt superformance
I may even import some soon from the States

I am interested in rally type seats that give some protection to the sholders and neck from wipelash. I am interested in which Sparco or other seats that will actually fit in a Cobra. They can not be too wide, nor can their backs angle too much. If you continue the line of the back of the standard Cobra seats, you would run into the car body. I also want to sit as far back from the driver's wheel as possible. I want enough comfort for driving several hours at a time. I want more safety for street and track. Let me know what seats would fit.

I primarily drive my car with a hardtop on.

The seats I used are identical to the sparco race seats. Sold through Revolution Race Gear for about $800 (I think??).
Cobra Imala2. If you have a big build or weigh more than 90kg you'll have trouble getting in to them. They are very comfortable on a long trip and great for the racetrack.
They do come in a wide base but you will have trouble getting one in to a Cobra.
I've got the small base model and still had to grind an inch off each shoulder support and about half an inch off the leg support on the right side of the passenger seat.

Even if AussieMike thinks they only look OK.
It was all well worth it in the end, and I love the result.

Don't take offence Jason, OK in my vocabulary means they look good. Seeing those seats in your Cobra is what got me thinking about some race style seats for mine.

Cheers

No offence taken my good friend.

The Queenslanders had stopped bitting.
So I thought I'd drop you a line

I don't know about showing my soft bits online, but how about some racing seats?
